We dominated but Lloris brainfart lost is that game. Wanyama at CB at the end was a disaster.

Still not sure how we lost that though.

I think some of these marks and comments are over dramatic by a long way. I don't think we played badly at all. Chelsea parked the bus most of the game and we gifted them a stupid free kick and switched off totally for the second. One thing we lacked was the ability to attack at pace down the flanks. We are going to need that at Wembley , not sure that GKN is good enough , so we either look to that from Son, buy a wide player, possibly Sessegnon or just hope Rose gets fit soon.

Lloris 5 -I don't see how he can be blamed for the first, the second yes, on 2 counts.
Trippier -5 - I don't think he should have played the whole 90 minutes. KWP should have come on at the same time as Son.
Alterweireld- 6- mostly good game , where was he for Morata's miss after 4 minutes or during the second goal fiasco ?
Vertonghen 6- same as Toby.
Davies 6 -I don't see what he did wrong, his final ball could have been better on occasions . Pointless to replace him with Sissoko.
Dier 4 - I'm really not quite sure if he knew what his role was, would have been better if we had gone 3 at the back. I hope his heart is still with the club. Not great last week either, or in pre season.from what I saw.
Wanyama 3 - By far his worst ever performance for us
Dembele 9 - Played a more advanced role than usual , was easily our best player and moved forwards with the ball rather than sideways. Maybe we missed his solidity in front of the back 4 but Dier and Wanyama didn't do their jobs
Eriksen 6 - How can such a quality player deliver so many woeful corners ? Otherwise tried to keep us going and great free kick delivery for the goal.
Dele 5 - Poor game , won a few free kicks
Son- 6 - As ever, tried to make things happen in the box
Kane 7 - unlucky not to score , worked hard, Ali didn't get forward enough to support him.

Sissoko -did nothing , realistically not enough time
Janssen- pointless but not enough time

I remember Alli started this poorly last season. Ball keeps bouncing off of him.

We need some power up front. It's too dinky at times.

We will be fine. I have no concerns.

Lloris overrated? What the actually fuck.

I admit he was massively at fault for that second goal, pathetic honestly, but to call him overrated just for that is ridiculous. He's an amazing keeper (IMO the best in the league). He's saved us on so many occasions it's ridiculous.
Lloris is better then De Gea??? Get a grip with your biased view.

Chelsea knew we were unlikely to get by them on the flanks, and they set up accordingly.

They didn't have to do much more, because our threat from wide areas was weak.

With Walker and Rose in the team it would have been a lot harder for them to play as they did. I'm sorry for those who think we can get by with our current FB options, but it was there for all to see today.

I've never really understood why our second choice were such different players, but now they find themselves first choice and our primary threat isn't there.

We need to at least get someone like Aurier or Perreira in to replace Walker, and of course Sessegnon on the other side would give us the same option.

This isn't to slate Trippier and Davies. They are fine in their own way but they just don't work to the team's benefit if we need to full backs to run at speed past people (which has been a hallmark of our play for the past two seasons).

No.

We win as a team, we lose as a team. Nothing Lloris could do on the free kick - wall was positioned correctly. Alonso just hit a great free kick. On the second goal we lost the ball, and then he got beat by a hard shot - low and just to his side - hardest shot to stop. It happens.
Have to disagree on that bit. You'd expect a top keeper like Hugo to save a shot like that. It was right at him. Shouldn't get beaten from that angle.

I do not agree that we were the best team. We were imprecise, detached and disorganised. Chelsea were highly organised in the back, and had one switch to turn on to kill the game when needed. Many had an off-day and singelling out players is of no point.

Dominated the match, created a far greater amount of chances, their goalie had far more to do, they score a great free kick (from a total dive by Luis) and a clusterfuck where Wanyama turned our attack into their attack for no apparent reason and Lloris forgot how to be a goalie.

Overall fine all other players bar the two mentioned above, Kane and Dembele a bit better than the rest, Chelsea got lucky

Conte was happy for us to dominate. So far, I like the noises about our potential transfers this window but we really need a quick, technically decent WF to unsettle good teams that sit back. We can breeze past the Stokes and WBAs but when you're up against a quality side coached by a quality coach who are drilled to let you have the ball, you need to offer something else to open up the opposition. Can't help but feel that this type of player, more than any other, could be the one that enables us to win the league

I blame Poch. Lost to a dogshit Chelsea in spite of dominating the game. Yeah, they defended well but still. If Poch wants to be an elite manager he has to figure out how to win these matches. Conte won with a resolute defense and nothing else.
