When Lamela is on his game he is unplayable. He hardly wastes a pass and pops up as the extra man in and round the area, he's o hard to track.

He is easily the biggest positive to be taken from the last few games.
How long will that last is the biggest question.

Unlucky but it doesn't mean he wasn't reponsible. If it was Dier or Davinson in the same situation I don't think many would be saying 'unlucky'.

He was literally looking the other way and DCL ran in front of him. I don't see how any blame can be attached to Hojbjerg and I don't see how that can possibly be given as a penalty - it's an accidental coming together between two players.

Obviously he was completely at fault for the first goal, but he's been great overall this season so I think it's fair to give him slack.

I know this is not a popular opinion and he's obviously been one of our best performers this season but he was culpable for 2 of our goals today. I don't think there is any getting away from that. If Winks had made the same mistakes he would be getting absolute pelters.

The penalty was utter BS, not much he can do about a player running across him.

That's the first time I've ever heard four assists being described as not that much.

I still think Lamela edged him for MOM which shows how good Lamela was.
Son a 6 - really? I thought everything good came from him going forward (he assisted all 4 goals). Certainly cannot blame him for any of the goals conceded. Not sure how he gets the same rating as Toby and lower than Hojbjerg.

Not being funny but are we just making stats up now? How did he assist all 4?

And I think this is part of the problem for those out the team for long periods. It was an absolute hospital pass for Dele last night.

Totally agree.

And it's not just a case of those that were injured getting back up to speed that's an issue. Those that have been dropped or only get the occasional game - like Sanchez & Dele, hell, even Winks, Doherty & Vinicius - the psychological pressure & lack of confidence must be huge.

Remember how horrendously awful Sissoko was for a long long time, soon after he'd joined us. Getting a run of games due to others being injured gave him the confidence, again, that he could play at this level - however limited he may be.

People who say Sanchez has gone backwards in the last few years are right, but a huge part of that has got to be because he's not been playing regularly. Look back to his first couple of seasons, when he played instead of Toby (contact issues) or Jan (injured) and he could be that player again.

And similarly, Dele must have had the confidence sucked out of him by Jose, and then a short injury won't have helped. I think everyone now knows Dele has some shortcomings, so expecting to just turn on the style, last night was a little much.

You're right - the third one was from his corner but was flicked on my someone else. Three assists not bad though tbf. My point was more around how he was a 6 but Hojbjerg an 8.

That’s the problem with agenda-led criticism as opposed to being objective (not saying you aren’t btw)
Even winks would have been unlucky to give away that penalty last night.
saying that Hojbjerg was culpable for 2 goals isn’t a fair assessment in my opinion

Winks wants to play more to get to the Euros...Ok. Seriously needs to have a look at himself, in where he thinks he is as a player. Is he better than Hojbjerg or Ndombele, no. Is he anywhere near the standard of Mount, Foden, Rice, Grealish, Maddison, Phillips, again No.
Mark Noble is better than Winks.

Lloris - 5 - Harsh to blame him for all the goals, I would say the 1st was his error, the others were in the corners.
Doherty 6 - Was ok, and thought he dealt with Digne quite well
Sanchez 6 - Great to see him score docked points for losing his man for Bernards and Richarlsons goals
Alderweireld 6 - Should hve closed down Calvert-Lewin quicker for their 2nd goal
Davies 6 - Uneventful, however if there is a player to hit, 2 yards, or 20 yards away, he will hit them
Hojbjerg 5 - Played well I thought, and would be a 7-8 rating, however 2 big mistakes he did were punished and the difference
Ndombele 6 - Quiet game for him by his standards, sometimes think he goes down to easily and refs are not buying it. Their 4th/5th I think, could have been a foul, or tried to do to much. We did lose our momentum when he went off though, but did look tired.
Son 8 - Great cross for Kane, was involved in most positive things going forward. Didn't help Davies much when Coleman and Godfrey outnumbered Davies though in the 2nd half
Lamela 9 (MotM) - Tenacity, zipped the ball about, everything went through him in an attacking sense. Big difference when he went off
Bergwijn 7 - Worked hard, took on his man when he could. Final ball sometime again let him down
Lucas 6 - Frustrating player. Drops a shoulder and injects a bit of pace and beats 1 or 2 men one minute, the next he can't pass a 5 yard pass or runs down cul-de-sacs and doesn't release the ball

Subs:
Kane 7 - Worked hard, scored a good goal, and helped in most build ups
Winks 3 - Think he was on 10 mins, and he had already misplaced about 4 passes, 1 was directly resulting to their goal. Got booked, and generally added no extra energy we needed, against tiring players in extra time
Dele 3 - Nice backheel, the rest was previous Dele. Could have taken the game by the scruff of the neck and been that player to stretch tiring defenders, but never saw that
Vinicius 3 - Did nothing
Sissoko 5 - Good energy down the right, and created couple of opportunities. Gives away silly fouls though all the time.

I realise the votes for Winks are ironic sarcastic but Son gets far too much praise for doing not that much, when he's good he's good, but he's not been that great in quite a few games, including this one

The whole positioning of everyone is embarrassing. There is no straight line of the back 4, no one close enough to the player with the ball and all in all no awareness.

Honestly, what is Ledley doing with them?
The problems are that Doherty and Sanchez are weak defensively. Without Sissoko to help mop up, sides will always target that side with success.
Add to that that Alderweireld can play on the left to a good level, but he is not as comfortable and his distribution is much worse.
But While it seems mouriinho pinned that last goal on Doherty, he wasn't that bad before hand, Also Sanchez wasn't directly responsible for any of the goals, although he let players go and could have given a penalty away.

This was an open very enjoyable game, and I gave motm to sanchez, so often the villain, who was as surprised as anyone to be the hero twice.

PS Winks put in a very good cross - the best that came from the right all game - that should have been buried.
So he doesn't deserve these minus ratings. Plus it was his goal that helped get us to this round in the first place.
He was a solid 2 out of 10.

Very disappointing

Thought Everton were there for the taking without Rodriquez or Allan. Very ordinary side without them

Add to that the fact that they didn’t come out of the changing room until about the 15th min

Went in 3-1 down at H/T and Everton were poor. Shocking

Lamela was clearly our MOTM although Moura ran him very close for Everton!!!

Lucas was dreadful as was Winks when he came on. So was Dele

What the hell has happened to Winks & Dele. Both were fantastic at one point and had great futures ahead of them. Such a shame
