Bassong did really well today. A tough game, but he made a couple of excellent challenges to deny Torres.

Man of the match was Modric. Love this guy.

Despite their mixed performances, I think this was an important game for Palacios, Lennon and Defoe. They'll all benefit from this win and hopefully we'll see more assured, confident performances from Palacios and Lennon in upcoming games.
Defoe missed a few chances and a pen, but he needs games to get back to his best. Which he will.

Happiness rating: 9/10

"Bassong did well"?!? are u serious? he was MoM for me.

Palcious had one bad pass second half and won several tackles, Modric had at least 3 poor passes and lost the ball on several occasions trying to overdrible.

Give it a rest Boris. You are simply watching games to look for Modric mistakes. 3 misplaced passes not in poor positions with about 60 good passes is not a bad game.

Bassong was excellent when he came on. Was still concerned by the needless rash foul he made on Torres. He has good technique when defending but still needs to time when to challenge and when not to better.

Gomes 6- Not much to do
Hutton 6- did ok
Gallas 7- solid performance again.
Kaboul 6- looked decent before off injuried
Ekotto 6- bit poor defensively but generally decent
Lennon 8- Great game, slowly getting back to what we know he can do
Palacios 3- less said about the 1st half the better, much better in the 2nd stops him from being scored a ZERO
Modric 7- great run for the goal, some good passing but lots of sloppy ones too.
Bale 7- played well despite liverpool players trying to end his career
Crouch 6- not a goal threat as usual but won at lot of knock downs
VDV - injuried straight away

SUBS
Defoe 4- worked hard but shocking really, and not the missed pen, poor decisions, head down smash it, still doesnt seem to understand the off side rule

Bassong 8- impressive

Hey I am saying what I saw, I saw Palacios having excellent 60min with far less mistakes than Modric, in fact I remember only one. I wouldn't think he was that fucking awful as the score was nil nil when I started watching. Yet look at his ratings.

Modric, Gallas, Hutton, Bale and Crouchie were fantastic. Modric MOTM for me.

Boris you want to stop giving out blowjobs - all that spunk is clogging your brain cells.

Gomes 6.5 - fine
Hutton 6 - average
Gallas 7 - pretty good game
Kaboul 7 - fine
Ekotto 6.5 - fairly quiet game for him
Lennon 8 - excellent in the first half and end of the 2nd
Palacios 4.5 - awful first half, better in 2nd but the team didn't seem to have confidence to give him the ball after it which hamstrung us, would have liked to see Sandro for him but the two injury subs really limited our options
Modric 8 - decent first 2/3, storming last 1/3 of the game
Bale 7.5 - good game
Crouch 7 - we were going long to him way too often I thought but he generally did well
VDV - N/A

SUBS

Defoe 5 - was relatively ok but the pen miss was diabolical (at least when Pav and VdV missed the target they were trying near-unsaveable pens, Defoe's would have been an easy save even if he'd had it on target), also maybe should have done better with some other chances
Bassong 8 - fantastic, tough game to come into but Torres will be having nightmares about him and some good clearances
Sandro - N/A

I'd probably go for Modric for MoM but Bassong has a strong case

I'd like to actually know what Crouch did to get so many high marks?

I didn't see any progressive play from him.

No recieving the ball and turning and finding a pass to build the attack.

No where near having 1 shot, I don't recall any of his attempted chest traps amounting to any build up of play.

and his flick on's were about 30-70 against.

All i can really remember is one far post header from a corner.

Don't even recall his bread and butter hold-up backward/sideways pass?

There was even one point where he lost control of the ball on the touch line where he shouted out his name ;) which made me chuckle :)

palacios' passing may have been poor, but his interceptions and harrying of liverpool was top notch

I thought Defoe looked sharp, and lively, therefore putting the misses down to a lack of match fitness is bullshit. He did his usual, tried to break the net with every chance, was greedy once he got around the box, and the work rate up front was patchy, they were backed up very well by the midfield. His lack of guile and brain were to blame, not his fitness.

modric almost cost us a goal twice losing the ball, he had a good gam eto get the goal though, palacios was better but he was beaten in 2 obvious 50/50 nballs which wouldve been his twelve months ago. such bias on here its untrue
