We were all worried that Salah & Mane were going to crucify us but once again we held firm, all the defenders get a vote.

Some thoughts.

I have very little faith in our ability to play out from the back without significant risk of just twatting it to an opposition forward. Stop it.

Dier has become a vital part of our defence.

Royal was much better (for him), but let's keep our pants on; that wasn't a groundbreaking performance.

There was space for our front three to do more damage tonight. Disappointing that they didn't. I would've liked to see Lucas/Berg earlier.

Liverpool are a brilliant team. This was a really good result, and sets us up well for our remaining fixtures (narrator: they lose to Burnley).

Emerson was my MOTM froma defensive view, attackign wise he is still shite as shite. But he did very well today so credit where its due... id still get him on a flight out of here asap though

Davies - excellent and as I mentioned, I dont think we are as desperate for a left CB as people think. We need a CB but in addition to him.

Sess did well and impressed and looked more confident taking Trent on which I thought was interesting

PEH and Bentacur.... gave the ball away but they worked tirelessly and PEH had a couple of good moments attacking wise, the cross to Kane, the shot off the post and wish he headed on goal in the last few seconds but as we all know if he missed we would be asking why he didnt head it across to Kane.

The front three did ok - it was a tough tough shift for them

Hugo didnt have much to do apart from one or two moments so that is testament to how we defended

Davies for me. That block was epic.

Whole back line was decent. Look forward to sessegnon getting a run of injury free games. I think he'll be very good. Was a clever sub taking him off, as up against salah on a yellow was asking for trouble

Royal had a good game. Still a bit ropey forward bit that's being picky.

Little shout to the subs. Bergwijn sanchez and winks for their cameos did well.
Davies was on a yellow too though?

Emerson's best game for us but can't give him MOTM. Those two crosses from fantastic positions were brutal - top teams convert those openings to goals.

I'll probably say Romero or Davies. The whole backline was exceptional defensively.

Royal MOTM imo. (Mistakenly typed Romero but voted Royal!)

great defensive performance, backs to the wall stuff.

Although we can look back on plenty of errors during the game, I think it's not healthy to dumb-down what was a really impressive team effort against one of the world's best riding a crest of a wave.

I went Team.

After lengthy deliberation, reflection and thought I decided to go for team effort. Everyone was determined not to get beaten today and pulled for each other collectively.

Nope, can't even come close to agreeing with this . I was half dreading checking a replay to see if PEH's(7) decision to head across well, behind a marked Kane(7), was as bad as it seemed at the time....and yes it indeed is . A point blank opportunity to score thrown away .
OK he's not an attacker, but that was a truly mad decision not to go for goal from so close. 1 point no good for us unfortunately.
Obviously overall, a great performance. We're good vs teams that don't sit back. Congrats to everyone inc Conte.

Not sure how you can say that after that pass to Kane that lead to the goal. He put in a couple of other good crosses as well.
The pass to Kane for the goal was just an up and under. Royal had 2 or 3 opportunities to cross to Son who was totally free in the middle but instead of sliding the ball into the corridor hit lofted crosses to the back post.

Royal was very good, but he remains unsuited to the offensive side of the game.

When we were 1-0 up I thought we would struggle from 65th minute onwards. Any sub we made would weaken us. Liverpool brought on fresh legs and we couldn’t (well, not until the last few mins as a necessity). If we’d had the quality of Liverpool’s bench we’d have won that.

Davies was on a yellow too though?
True. But I suppose conte thought it best to have the more experienced player taking the job. Probably weighed it up and decided it was the better option.

And it was better to have 1 yellow on that side than both players in the second yellow xard risk zone?

Not much else he could do on the left side from the bench.

May also have been a fitness issue, as it was a brutal game and he hasn't played regularly. Even sonny said he was shattered!

Worked anyway!

I think there is merit for both him heading it on goal or to Kane. He chose the latter. I can see why. He was going backwards, not enough pace on the ball and well, he is a midfielder haha.

Perhaps if he left it for Bergwijn.

I’m more concerned about Kane TBH. He’s playing like he’s been tapped up again. He’s been really poor the last few games.
The team did well and you can clearly see that players have improved under Conte.
I had this game down as a loss, so to come away with a point is a bonus.

I cant understand why, against teams that play a high line and press, more teams dont just loft the ball into the mahoosive areas of space in behind them. Its obviously the easiest way to beat the press.
If a team is pressing and have 8 players in the final third the cant be up the other end as well!
Leave a whippet up by half way line and ping it into the oppositions half and Son is winning that race all day long.
Teams would drop off. They'd have too.
Then you can play your tippy tappy possesion game.
Most teams are so one dimensional these days.
Lloris boots it up the pitch, Kane flicks it on,Son scores. Result, Lloris gets bollocked for kicking the ball out and not throwing it out to players who are boxed in around our goal area!
Strange times.
