Image 1 - as the ball is played out to Robertson - Dier is next to Nunez slightly goal side - Emerson and Bentacuar are moving out to cover Robertson.
Image 2 - (3 seconds later) Dier is focusse don Robertson and ends up in in no mans land while Nunez is running into our area
Image 3 - 3 v 2 overload in our area with Dier out of position
verdict = blame Davies!!!
Emerson was far too fucking slow out to Robertson. He jogged and was happy to let him cross that ball.

Another Ref out of his depth at this level.
If that was given against us you would have as many people unhappy now protesting about it saying he went down too easily. However if it was outside the area and the ref saw it clearly you would expect it to be given as a free kick but refs aren't applying the same rules to fouls inside the area as those outside and they do tend to lean to no decision if it wasn't clear cut (I don't think it looked obviously clear cut to the ref and unless there was a clear and obvious error VAR wouldn't over turn it).

No just Davies, but also Lenglet, Sess, Lloris - any of them that could have - and should have - warned Dier that Nunez was making a run in behind. And look at how Firmino just waltzes through our entire midfield, with not one of them chasing back with any real speed.

Dier was at fault for the terrible backwards header that gifted Salah his second goal, but this first goal was a disaster down to sloppy closing, slow movement, poor communication from the entire defensive unit.

I do suspect a fair amount of the boo’s at half time we’re directed at the ref who was appalling. Our overall performance in the first half was nowhere near as terrible as some are making out and second half we were very bright.

I’m surprised that no-one on here is mentioning the fact the ref (wrongly) stopped the game just before Dier’s mistake when one of their players (potentially Elliott) was down with a leg injury. This doesn’t absolve Dier of blame for the mistake, but it was completely against the rules of the game. Understandably more fans at the ground were focused on the penalty appeals, but I was surprised that MOTD didn’t even show the incorrect referring decision that lead to the second goal.
Elliotts lower legs were off the pitch as well. He should have rolled over the line for treatment, like a professional football player, or he should have been ordered to by the referee - or just ignored. Ridiculous all round seeing the miraculous recovery he made.

Silly question but had Sess done that to TAA do you think the ref would have given a penalty. Had Lucas used high boot on Thiago do you think the ref would give a penalty. To me the answer is yes to at least one

If Sess had done that to TAA at Anfield...100% a penalty would of been awarded.

We all know that.

The game is sickening with the bias sometimes.

I've noticed this a few times. I'm not convinced our defenders inc Lloris are talking to each other enough.

Absolutely
VAR would have not been really sure if there was actual contact,
Moura's reaction, or fucking lack of one, put doubt in their minds about how much contact there was.
And let's face it, they can't wait to screw us over without us doing ourselves in.
Go down like someone stabbed you in the eye ffs.
So true, someone on here said yesterday had that been Lamela we had a penalty.

Image 2 neither Bissouma or peh track firminio so Davies then goes access to cover that run and leaves salad unmarked. If Bissouma was 3 yards further up pitch goal doesn’t happen

From 150 yards away couldn’t say it was a pen but having seen replays it’s was absolutely a pen
