I have seen enough to know that we are going to well this season. This was always going to be a tough one. We would have lost this game last season.

We played away, had a penalty against us and a man sent off, and we still won the game with a clean sheet!

My MOM Dier with Lloris and Capoue a close second. Who said we shouldnt have started Lamela, he did well. Reminded me of Ronaldo in his young days, not afraid to muck in.

Can't underestimate the importance of Hugo's save but I thought Dier was solid all game even before the goal. That just made it perfection. Well played!!

Don't remember Dier putting a foot wrong, even during the shambles of the first half. Easily man of the match, Hugo was class, and Capoue showed how much of a beast he will be for us this season. The rest were average to good, Kaboul was poor.

Looked like we are still carrying some of the problems we had last season, but Naughtons early, and incorrect sending off completely warped our performance.

Don't care what anyone says about the performance, to be down to 10 within 30 minutes and still win is a great result. Really pleased with that.

CAPOUE?!?! No chance, he was very poor. Got thrown off the ball way to easily and looked clumsy and slow. Dier was fantastic and I thought Hugo was his good self. Townsend came on and did well too. Eriksen poor match but credit for the through ball to Eric and Kaboul looking very vulnerable as usual unfortunately. Thought Lamela was poor as well... Hope he kicks on big time!! COYS

EDIT: I THOUGHT IT WAS ERIKSEN AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MANY OF YOU IT WAS KANE. SORRY AND THANK YOU.

I thought Eriksen and Kaboul were both poor today.

Everyone else had a solid game, with Dier, Lloris and Capoue being true standouts. Townsend looked great when he was on, as well.

Lloris -8 Some extremely important saves (MOTM)

Naughton -6 Did ok and was a harsh red

Dier -7 Solid debut and good finish

Kaboul-5 looked a bit shaky to be honest not terrible but not his best performance

Rose-5 let too many crosses come in and Downing caused him too many problems

    Capoue-6 Did his job

Bentaleb -7 good passing real talent

Lennon-5 Poor game, good work rate but no end product or final ball, doesn't suit this formation

Eriksen-6 Poor by his standards not his best game

Lamela-6 Good in patches some good passes and dribbles but also gave ball away too much again and fouls too much. Better to come hopefully

Ade-5 Didn't have much service but not his best performance ever.

    Subs:
Townsend-7 made a good impact good direct running some decent balls and shots

Holtby-6/7 Good energy mabye not enough time to really influence the game

    Kane-6 Didn't have much time

Poch-7 Changes at 60 mins made all the difference

Team-6 Not the best performance really quite average. BUT had a lot to do with a rediuculous red card for Naughton. Defending set pieces and crosses we looked shaky and a bit dis-jointed going forward but this is to be expected as will take time with a new manager so not worried.Brilliant resolve and win in the end. Can't say we exactly deserved it a draw was mabye fair but absolutely buzzing with that result get in!!!

    COYS

Lloris - 8 - Did everything he had to do well and what a save.

Naughton - Not going to give him a rating. He played well up until the very harsh incident.
Kaboul - 4 - Looked all over the place at times but made a couple of crucial defensive headers.
    Dier - 9 - Legend!
Rose - 6.5 - Struggled the first 15 minutes against a tricky winger (maybe a result of not playing any real teams in preseason), but once he settled he did well.

    Bentaleb - 5 - Mixed game.
Capoue - 7 - Brilliant in CM, slightly less so in defense but still did well there.

Eriksen - 5 - Didn't impose himself as much as I think we would expect and gassed out at the end.
Lamela - 5 - Some fancy flicks and dragbacks but very little end product and gave the ball away a few times.
Lennon - 5.5 - Good in defense, surprised he was taken out (guess Poch wanted a set piece threat in Eriksen in case we could nick one). Not much going on in attack.

Adebayor - 5 - Couldn't really get much going. In fairness, he was very alone for a good chunk of the match so not a good match to judge him on. Got Collins sent off.

Holtby - 5.5 - Gave energy and pressing which was crucial but didn't have much product about him.
Townsend - 7 - Also gave energy and pressing but along with it looked our biggest threat in the 2nd half.
Kane - 6.5 - Did what he was brought on to do...also played a great ball for Dier.

    Capoue played well.
Kane played the pass for the assist to Dier not Eriksen.

Great result. We are still ball watching too much, players leaving the ball for another and in the end, giving it back to spam who immediately counter attack. We are working a lot harder, from the top. I expect Poch to influence his philosophy to the team more as they gel and when more of the 1st team come back from extended leave. Dier Motm, Lloris up there, Holtby and Townsend did well when they came on. Great start for us. COYS!

Dier was obviously outstanding, thought Townsend made a huge difference when he came on and Lloris got us 3 points today just as much as Dier did.

Kaboul, Adebayor and Lennon not with it yet (perhaps lack of fitness for Ade) and Capoue struggled as a defender (probably fair enough). I thought Rose grew into the game well.

Everyone else was OK, but unspectacular.

Just bizarre comment to make. You sure you weren't mistaking Kaboul for Capoue?

Also it was Kane who played the through ball to Dier for the goal.

Did you actually watch the game?
