There has been much fan fare and high 5's when we secured the services of Paul Mitchell and his visionary recruitment policy. This combined with the experienced smooth operator in Baldini and the tough negotiator in Levy. This was viewed by many as the dream ticket and we'd start to recruit the very best from around the globe.. All great strategies look good on paper, executing them effectively is a different matter as we've found out to our detriment.

Do we have too many involved in the recruitment process that slows and complicates matters, but I expect there are other underlying factors that have resulted in why find ourselves in the current position.

Let's also not forget that they're not only recruiting for the first team but the kids and development squads alike

However if between them they don't produce credible purchases down the spine of the team in the next few days, CB not included, then they will already have questions to answer.

There's not enough money just to go paying asking prices.

Fans are expecting us to go spending alongside the top 4 and we just don't have those resources.

Young players can have all the ability in the world, but there's no guarantees they'll make it in the Premier League. They're all a risk.

I'll wait until the end of the window to pass my first judgment.

We have bought Wimmer and Trippier but won;t be able to judge these signings for a long time.

We clearly need pace going forwards and Njie fits the bill. Again time will tell if it's a good piece of recruitment.

I'm not going to concern myself with our targets as the papers just link us with lots of players.

If we get Berahino and Wanyama then I'll saying the recruitment process for the summer has been good and looked after both the long and short term.

Too early at this stage though.

Agree but think we actually need another winger aswell someone like Bolasie and to offload Lamela and possibly drop Chadli.

Why drop Chadli? He has the most of out mix of goals and assists right now. He's missed a couple of half chances but unlike the other attacking mids at least he's getting into positions.

Erikson and Lamela have done nothing so far this season.

IF we sign another winger we could line-up like:

Kane/Berahino

N'Jie
Eriksen
Boalsie

If we don't then keep Chadli in for Bolasie but for me Chadli does get a good amount of goals etc but isn't enough of a consistent threat and was the same last year. Fair one to argue as I'm not saying we HAVE to drop him but I think we could do better and it would help our build-up and attacking play. 100% agree dropping Lamela before him yes but I'd actually say to drop both, just my opinion.

Bolasie is definitely NOT signing for us this window.

Before the window opened I thought the number one priority was to get rid of the excess players. I've been really impressed that this has been achieved with a minimum of Levy's interference. He has taken a relatively small hit but got almost all of them all shipped out.I am assuming that this is down to Baldini but as this is Spurs who the hell knows?

Wimmer and Trippier look very promising and I am very pleased to see Carroll back and Dele Alli actually playing. Also Pritchard should hopefully be getting minutes soon.

I think we will need this window, then the next and also next Summer to really sort out the mess that the Bale sale ended up as so all in all I'm pretty happy with our business.

The Colombian lad that we have recently been linked with is the type of signing I hoped to see when Mitchell was appointed, we shall see but it needs time.

Like others have said, we'll have to wait and see (even next season too).

I would have liked to see a couple of freebie experienced players in the squad though, the likes of Cambiassio, etc.

Although on paper they might be expensive for 9 months work, I think they'd be value for money when considering their impact on the profesionalism/development of the young squad we have.

That is one thing I don't understand. Why is Micah Richards playing for Villa & Cabaye playing for Palace?
And before anybody try a cheeky comment, Richards is better for Villa than Alderweireld is for us so far.

Poch won't drop our current only other credible goalscorer.

There are a few others too, no doubt

It would be interesting to see how much Pirlo is getting paid in the States

Would he be worth £5million in wages for a season's work? :)

I really dont think thats fair on Toby, I think bar the penalty hes been consistantly good. Richards IMO is a terible defender, ok maybe a little harsh, hes decent. Yes he has some good physical attribues but the reason why he has never held down a place at a top club is because he is incredably poor at reading the game. I agree with you in Cabaye however he would have been a great signing for us, I can only think he doesnt have the work rate needed for Poch in the midfield.

The problem is Vertonghen not Alderweireld. You can't judge a recruitment team on one window. We'll only really know what they are doing and how good its been a few years down the line. The Baldini window didn't go to well, but we got Eriksen and Chadli who have gained value.

I'm not disappointed with any of our signings this window and look forward to seeing what N'Jie can add.
