Yh I think given what we've lost with Bentancur and the rumour he'll miss start of season, this signing seems to cover both aspects. Offers something different to what Bentancur does and can compliment him but also seems to have the skills to cover what we lost. I'd feel very good about a midfield with the skills of Hatate, Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr, Skipp. To an extent Hojbjerg has a unique skillset but I get the feeling he may be the odd one out, that list of 5 though; What more can you ask for in central/deep midfield?
Maddison.

If Ange wants him then fair enough but personally I don't see what he offers that Lo Celso couldn't...
Fitness and shot power. :sneaky:

(This is tongue in cheek because Gio is one of the loan players who's worth a second chance in my opinion).

Its difficult to compare both.
On Lo Celso, I always felt his game is far too inconsistent in buildup phase. His passing isnt reliable.

He looks worth a punt at the right price, looks a decent player. There does come a price point where it’s not worth the risk though and honestly anything above say 10 mil for a good player from the SPL is too risky IMO. There really are very few that come here and make a real impression

Am I right in thinking that this lad is very two footed? Which would be a benefit over Gio but I still wouldn't mind giving Ange a chance to cast his eye over Lo Celso.

I think he would be a very astute signing and if the price is to be believed then a no brainer. If Ange wants him (which I assume he would) then it gives us the midfield base he would like although I do think we are overstocked in midfield. Then again, we were always going to be in this situation at some point.

Joy of a player to watch. I can see the logic in casting an eye over Lo Celso, but Lo Celso might have a buyer, and it can't feel amazing to be returning to a club you've been cast out of in terms of motivation.

If we're looking for this type of player, Hatate is younger and more dynamic on the ball, and a Lo Celso fee to Villa or to Spain might cover the cost by itself, trading up/sideways but for a younger model with more of a shot on him.

He’s improved massively last couple of seasons. I know he’s been playing in Spain but he was fantastic in the champions league and post injury this season has been excellent.
