Valencia seem to have 4th sewn up now!! Move on!
Not necessarily - they're still strapped for cash, in a cautionary tale to some on here, their new stadium project has become a financial disaster. Something for those who don't appreciate Levy's genius to think about.

Well if Valencia do get 4th instead of R Sociedad (which is looking very likely), the latter have some very promising young players.

Inigo Martinez, Illaramendi, Griezmann, & Pardo all have been touted for bigger moves. Even Carlos Vela has had an excellent season for them.

Saying that, even if Valencia qualify for the CL, their reported poor financial health means that most of their players would be available for sensible prices.

They have to play a tough away game to Seville and Sociedad have a much easier tie at Depor, still very tight, personally much as I wouldn't mind Soldadao I would be very happy if we could sign Griezmann, I don't think he will move if Sociedad get the last CL spot, I imagine the possibility of CL revenue next season might ease the pressure on Valencia to sell Soldado

Those two would be brilliant signings for us
but I don't think CB or Left winger is our priority now, we need a playmaker and a shiny new forward

Surely LW is a massive priority as Bale is going to play in he hole. We don't have anyone to play the LW/LF role. Townsend prefers cutting in from the right, and Sig and Dempsey do not convince there.

I don't think Bale will be playing behind the striker next season, (thankfully) AVB said it wasn't a permanent switch.

Griezmann is a must buy as LW + Vela as striker.

I think his position is right forward. He's way too good at cutting in on his left foot to play him in another position I think.

They said last night griezmann just signed a new contract which makes any potential move more expensive so I don't think that'll happen

If we ever got a CF worth crossing to I think he'd be pretty valuable on the left too. We should be aiming for two wingers who can switch fluidly at tactical moments.

Having seen the talk of one striker plus a wide forward, I reckon it'll be one of Leandro and Soldado, plus PEA maybe.
That said, I still fail to see us going into next season with only two strikers, it has haunted us this year. So if either if Defoe or Ade are sold, may be room for two incoming.
I also think the potential arrival of Baldini could impact things, I wouldn't be surprised to see Osvaldo follow him from Roma as another striker option.

He'll be pretty expensive now whatever after the last two seasons, I guess it is easy to say we should have signed him last season but he had no desire to move then and fair play to him too many young players choose a move too early when their game would be best improved sticking around a familiar league and team that much longer

I think he'd be a great option for us because he has a lot of quality in his game across the roles he plays and looks comfortable as a left winger, am or second striker. I kind of resigned myself to it not happening anyway as I thought Sociedad had pretty much sewn up the fourth spot, but Valencia have done well to edge past them, whoever gets the CL spot Griezmann may want to stay anyway and as you say his value is getting more expensive and may well be out of our range this summer given other priorities we also have

To be honest, though Vela has had a decent season goal wise he has played some stinkers and has screwed up a lot of great Sociedad attack play with poor finishing or poor touch. I think he has gotten better later in the season as his confidence has grown on the back of getting some goals and playing in a very good attacking team, but despite his decent goal tally I wouldn't want us chasing him, some early games I watched I cringed at the times he would waste some great creative attack play

Yeah true, it's just a matter of style imo. I think AVB wants the wide players to be goal threats, which means you would want a right footed player on the left and vice versa. A more traditional manager would want the wingers to be providing the width and stretching the defense, but there are other ways to create width when the "wingers" play more narrow - the attacking midfielders and fullbacks can move far forward into the wide areas in attack so the opponents defense is still stretched and then you get a player like Bale cutting inside with space to shoot or pass.

I thought the itk about Aubameyang was interesting cause he could basically do that on the left side imo (right footed), and then have someone with lethal movement and finishing in the middle (Villa and Leandro for instance) and you could have a front 3 that scores around 60 goals over a season. Plus players like Lennon, Townsend, maybe Tom Ince, maybe Ceballos, could give us plenty of depth and options in those positions as well. If we bought those 4 players (Villa, Leandro, Aubameyang, Ince) along with a midfielder like Belhanda we could be incredibly good in an attacking sense next season I think. Everything else apart from maybe LB is set, buy 5 players and I think we could be title challengers next season.
