Thanks guys. LLM said he thought it was Portugal, so may or may not be heading there. We shall soon see though. (y)

Apparently the meeting this afternoon didn't go well, and Baldini is on his way back to London. Rumours on twitter (yeah I know...) saying Levy lowered his offer after hearing they had a replacement lined up.

Levy time.

More likely 'Lewis time' if some need a scapegoat to blame.

People who want levy out must remember, we are overachieving because of Levy's financially sensible policy. If we break such a policy it would but us in a weaker position when our comes to negotiating and might even create financial instability for the club and therefore would result in long term problems which might take decades to recover from. This is particularly the case when considering the fact we are trying to build a stadium. To say that we should just go all out financially is a tactic which is on the brink of being pure idiocy. Not only because players might not lead the club to achievement, but because it will actually hinder the club as a whole both on the pitch and in the boardroom.

Because at first glance it appears that Valencia are leaking certain mis-information to make themselves seem like the are pushing a hard bargain.

I would in their posision and its standard practise for club selling their prized asset

Do you not understand what I'm saying? I know this isn't the ITK thread.

Soldado has just signed for us, it's done!

Notice how my above statement is not factual, it's my own worthless (because I have no source) opinion. So why are we bringing peoples opinions from twitter and posting them here without any context? If they wanted their opinion on SC wouldn't they come and post it here themselves?

By quoting twitter on here it makes them look "official" which gets confusing for people who don't know all the latest going on on twitter. Also, if I want to read twitter I'll go on there and read it, I don't understand why it needs to be put in here unless it brings something to the table. As I said, it wouldn't be so bad if people explained who they were quoting.

I understand what you're saying it just had little place in player threads. This is where twitter posts and rumors and journo stories go. All the stuff not allowed in the ITK thread go in here.

If you don't like that stuff than don't read the posts or the thread, pretty simples

If he has a release clause which it sounds like he does, the only way to kill the deal would be for him to sign a new contract at Valencia.

I thought his release clause was significantly larger than the 30 million euros we are being quoted. I'm not sure if that is because to activate it we would be required to pay about 60% extra in taxes though.

Yes, and I really don't understand why you cannot. Any player is clearly assessed by the club and a maximum price is placed on them, that will include wage demands, possible bonuses, along with the total transfer outlay. An extra 3 million is a large sum of money when added to a deal that already will probably cost the club over 40 million euros. It is about risk, under the current deal offered we will be sure we can absorb the cost of him failing catastrophically, at 3 million extra we do not, and hence stop pursuing him.

It is very easy from a fans stand point to sit there and moan. However, you can be sure that the club do not pass over deals like this lightly.

Who am I to argue, if you are genuinely happy to every window miss out on top quality targets that would enable us to compete even more with the big boys, then thats fine! Personally I'm bored of missing out, however I do think that this time we will get Soldado!

I think you are getting your wires crossed a little. I am as disappointed as the next fan when we miss a target, however I just don't blame the club for not showing enough ambition and instead I chalk it up to us running the business sustainably, which I realise is equally important.

I am keeping everything crossed for news on Soldado signing.
