None of the three opponents are mugs. They'll all give us challenging games. If we can collect 5-7 points from those matches, we will have done well.

Completely agree, but these are the games where - if we are seriously an improving team on a genuine top four trajectory - we win. I feel good about today because I think Southampton are the kind of team that play to our strengths. However it goes, I'm looking forward to kick-off, which is still a new experience for the last year or two hahah...

If Conte is the man and we’re serious about 4th spot then this type of game is must win. Also as someone else said we’ve played 10 of 16 games at home so we’ll need to see some quality and consistency on the riad

Southampton are shite. If we continue to play and work as we have done in the previous 3 games we should take care of them

Southampton played a very tired demotivated Spammers side the other day and they will have taken a lot out of themselves from that game

If we aren’t too knackered and manage to juggle the squad around a little we should take all 3 points

As we all know though, it’s the hope that kills you!!

I know I know its only one game but really enjoyed how Winks played against LFC. Feel like Southampton are going to be playing in a similiar manner to them, and it could be a great game for Winks as there will be quite a bit of space to pass to our forwards - hopefully can carry on with that form he showed that game.

Winks does not work in a double pivot. Especially as Southampton pack midfield

If Conte is the man and we’re serious about 4th spot then this type of game is must win.

Whilst I agree to an extent, it isn't the end of the world if we don't. I reckon you'd struggle to find any team that's finished in the top 4 who has not lost a 'type of game we must win' fixture.

But we still say it almost every time. A month ago, we'd have been ecstatic to be challenging for top 6, so the improvement is there but it's a long way off being complete so whilst expectation has been rightfully raised, for me, we indulge in far too many absolutes.

And also, Conte IS the man*, he shouldn't be defined by this result.

But I do accept that i'm probably in a minority here

Yeah, however just feel like just give him one final go at it, personally don't see Skipp and Hojbjerg being the future of us anyway, not enough creativity there. I'm surely we'll be able to withstand Southampton pressure now that we've seemed to finally found some consistency at the back, all 5 defenders seem to be playing pretty good atm.
