This.
As usual a lot of overreacting in here.
Not the best performance but we could’ve won that if we’d taken some of our earlier chances.
We’ll be fine it’s so early in the season.
But we haven't played well at all this season so far and we haven't played any of the top sides yet. Hopefully the better sides will bring out the best in us and we can move forward but I'm not convinced this style of football is going to win any trophies. We have to start passing better and moving quicker and getting into games earlier not wait till the 2nd half.

They say a sign of a good team is when you can play poorly and still get something, and this is very true.

However, when the poor performances become the norm rather than the exceptions then it’s a problem.

Something is definitely a bit off from us this season.

Whether it’s simply Kane and Son playing poorly, thus exposing our limitations as a squad, the system ( and opponents wising up to ways of countering it) or Conte pushing them too hard in pre season I don’t know.

Hopefully things start to click, but with the games coming thick and fast now, if we don’t start playing better there is no doubt that results will eventually start to turn for the worse.
Hopefully a nice trouncing if Leicester on sat will kick start our performances

Seriously what was all this pre-season Conte going to make us the fittest yet we run around each 1st half like we've already done a marathon? Ah, but that's because Conte is letting them run over 1st half so we show our superior fitness and finish them off 2nd half? Not even mentioning we had a weekend to rest, seems every manager we have moans about schedule but when we actually have a break we come back worse... I would get infruriated if it hadn't happened 100 times before...

I missed the gaa ad me but I’m assuming we lost because we were outnumbered in midfield and he refused to change it?
Not that.

We lost because we didnt capitalise on the spells we had when we we're on top.

We got a bit stretched at the end as tiredness crept in. But I dont think we were ever outnumbered in midfield and it was more a case of Hojbjerg and Bentancur getting sloppy on the ball and a very good set piece that killed us.

Pre season is to set you up for the whole season not just the first 6 games

How Spursy does it get! Lloris pulls off an absolute worldie save and from the resulting corner they score! From then it was curtains.

Think might have been better off in group with the likes of Munich or Madrid. Thinking it was all a walk over in this group when we've been the ones walked over tonight! Marcus Edwards the one that got away! He was sheer quality.

Honeymoon period up in smoke lets see how Conte reacts. Emerson should be the first out of the team!

This no plan B talk has hallmarks of Mourinho please not the same direction!

Agree with this

I am actually happier with the performance in a 2-0 loss tonight than I was in the 2-0 win against Marseille

For an away CL tie against a decent footballing side who had beaten the Europa League holders 3-0 a couple of weeks back we took the game to them. We played some slick football through the middle at times and it was the front 3 and the WB's that let us down with final balls and finishing. Their 2 goals and Edwards's Maradona moment aside we were completely comfortable

Since our forwards have rescued us in otherwise dull performances this season I don't feel too worried about it (Kane and Son's general form aside - neither are near their best)
Almost agree.... but the two Sporting goals were an ugly flashback to old soft Tottenham. With players not able to fight, tackle or deliver full focus for the entire game... Conte has done an amazing job making us more solid and competitive. But I fear that it's only more quality players that can take us the last step to the top and even more winning mentality.

No way we should lose that game. It was a gift for Sporting.

I think he cares much more about results than performances. Now those are starting to slide he might.
I genuinely hope you’re right from the bottom of my heart but I just don’t see it.
Let’s hope he does and you can take the piss out of me at the weekend. ???

Remember that Inter fan who told us Conte will frustrate you at times.

People should remember that.

It tends to run a little slowly but when it kicks in really goes and is like a machine.

I believe @fishhhandaricecake
are right and he's just managing things at the minute.

The one touches were terrible. Players looked so lacklustre. Sporting already anticipated our moves.

I really wish Conte can ditch that whole setup soon. It's really not working. Play with speed is better. We have Sess and Spence.
This is it in a nut shell for me. We are so slow in our build up its a joke. If Lloris gets the ball we wait until the opposition have 11 men behind the ball and the try to play through the whole lot of them.

To lose 2-0 when drawing at 88 mins is amateurish. See the game out, take a good away point, regardless of if should have got more. Hopefully it’s a wake up call. Sporting look average at best, so I expect a good home win against them and the other sides look poor too

I see the stupid stuff is kicking in.

Drop Son and Kane? (I can see the argument for giving Son a rest but drop them both?)
And they are both over rated?

There’s nothing like a defeat to bring out the numpty within :D
