Based on current form we haven't had an easy start to the season.
I'm not sure how that is relevant. We have had had an easy start of the season. We have played less top 6 (or 7 if you include Leicester) than most of our rivals, and we have played 3 or the bottom 4 before this weekend. The reason our run is like that, is our hard fixtures are all nicely pilled together. Man city was the first one. We then play Chelsea, Arsenal a small break with palace before Liverpool and Leicester. Most teams have a more balanced schedule so have played more top 7 teams.

So it is a false position, because of the nature of the games we have played compared to others. And this is what I mean, people need to cool about any title ambitions because we will really only know what the season might look like after this run. I'm not sure how current form means much in regard to an easy start of the season. I guess the three games before this Man city game were, on paper, 3 of the easiest matches you can have in the whole league. We had to get 9 points out of those. Before that we played mostly midtable teams and some upper table contenders like man utd, Everton and Southampton. But. That's only really one of the top 6/7.

We have also played more defensively as a team since he came back which is why we're scoring less goals and conceding less goals.

Yes but he is a very good organiser of a back line. Remember his first season where his introduction transformed us defensively. That’s happened again

You've missed his point entirely. You're basing your assessment of "difficult matches" on our opponents' reputations. His whole point is that, if you base them instead on this season's performance, we have played clubs that have otherwise done well. We've played Everton, West Ham, Newcastle and Southampton, none of whom are anywhere near the relegation zone, plus both Manchester clubs - and we're top of the league.

Spurs Twitter taking the absolute piss. I love it.

They shouldn't promote the meme that we've been lucky with VAR, we had a whole load of shit/borderline decisions go against us like almost everyone else (except, eg Man Utd)

In fact, regarding this fixture the first ever shitty VAR decision went against us when VAR awarded a penalty for (unavoidable) handball against Rose in the CL quarter final (the on-field decision was a corner). Aguero missed the subsequent penalty, so City fans and everyone else has conveniently forgot about this (Not to mention that handball rules have changed so that Sissoko's penalty in CL final wouldn't be given now)

What a stupid Tweet. Of course they cost more than our defence because he is comparing 13 players against our 4.

Great performance, only thing missing for me was Erik Lamela bein available and doing something to piss city fans off beyond the limits of their sanity.

Oh well hopefully against Arsenal
He takes the piss out of Arsenal every time we play them iirc.

So it is a false position

Maybe - the next five games will be more of a barometer - and by then we'll be a third of the way through the season

but momentum and confidence are key. Go into christmas at or near the top and i'm sure jose will think we have a chance...

in unrelated news, United get away with yet another blatant pen call in their area, then win a soft one up the other end

It feels so 2001

No easy games this season and Southampton ain't no mid table team based on their form over the last 12 months.
