Positives-I think we now have the back 5 sorted as the best we have got. Fazio and Verts far from convincing at times but best of what is currently avaialble. Dembele looks a bit more useful playing further up the pitch and I am glad to see Stambouli getting a look in. Thought Kyle Walker had a tremendous second half, especially given his lack of matches and up against a very tricky opponent - did well to avoid any rash challenges and a second yellow too.Kane absolutely tireless performance, Erikson that rare touch of class( why hasn't EL done something similar in any premier league game yet?)

Negatives - same as usual - Lamela and Soldado. When the team was announced most were in agreement but I don't see what Lamela has done to be considered as in our best pick team. As for Soldado, I think it is purely the idea of having 2 srikers that we like and we have no other alternatives. We need to bring in a couple of alternatives to these 2 in January . I would loan out Lamela but keep Soldado as 3rd/4th striker option and use mainly in cup games / off the bench until the summer.

Pretty funny - I saw Steve Bould earlier today so thought we'd lose after that.
Then saw a yiddo in a Tottenham hat and thought we'd win.
3 points and you can piss off Bould.

There's a general failure on this thread to give Swansea any credit at all for making us look bad. They were good more than we were bad, by a substantial margin. There was a period of about 20-25 minutes in the central part of the second half when we actually played really badly, in the sense that we couldn't complete a pass, couldn't clear our lines and were defending nearly constantly. But even during that phase, part of the problem was that a endless succession of loose balls happened to go directly to a Swansea midfielder. Then we got a few breaks and the momentum changed back for the last 15 minutes, when both sides made convincing attempts to win the match.

There's also a general failure to take into account the lack of experience in our starting 11. Out of Kane, Davies, Bentaleb, Mason, Eriksen and Lamela, only Mason has reached the elder-statesman status of 23 ... and he's the least experienced of the lot.

Then there's remembering that we were playing away against a team occupying the same region of the table as us. It's not as if we were playing newly-promoted patsies. Swansea have a squad that has been assembled and coached with a clear picture of how they want to play and the players are visibly on-board with their approach. They're a team, which is more than you can reliably say about us.

I'm starting to come to the conclusion that the come-from-behind-and-win-in-the-last-minute thing we've been doing is not only about mental strength (although Eriksen's sense of calm at crucial moments is one of his best assets) - it's also about the heavy-duty fitness training that Pochettino enforces. There have been a lot of matches where we have weathered heavy pressure in the second half and then grabbed control in the closing stages. I don't think it's a coincidence.

But none of that makes it attractive, satisfying football to watch. It's still constipated, inhibited and lacking in thrill-factor. Commentator after commentator has been observing that we're in a decent position in the table in spite of our football, not because of it. We frequently observe that we no longer have any game-winning players, but we do: Eriksen is winning us games and Lloris is saving us losses. And, in Harry Kane, we have a player who has an intense desire to win and is showing signs of leadership qualities at 21. The production from these individuals is why the football is worse than the results.

It's great to see Walker back - we really need his pace - and also to see Davies turning into a convincing defensive fullback (although he was out of position for Bony's goal). I think we saw our first-choice back 4 at last today and I hope Pochettino can stick with it for awhile.

How old is Lemela ? It is too early to give up on him. This is really is first proper season in the premiership since he got injured very early in Spurs career as a result he hardly played last year.
He's young I know and I want him to be a success as much as anyone

I kept faith until recently - my cousins are from Rome, one a Lazio season ticket holder and the other a casual Roma fan and both told me how great he will be so I kept faith long after what I was seeing on the pitch from him was testing my faith

Now though - I give up, I know he's young, I know it's early to judge but he isn't so much as showing potential to suggest he will ever come good. He's just been useless, young players with great potential usually show flashes of what they can do but find it hard to find any level of consistency

Lamela has been very consistent - consistently shit unfortunately

A couple of good games in preseason and against goat herders in the Europa are not enough to show his potential to me and I just don't think he's up to the EPL, he's so ineffective every game it's embarrassing

I hope you're right, I hope he proves me very very wrong and I would happily eat sweet humble pie if I am proved wrong and he becomes a star player for us but personally I have given up on the lad now and really don't think he will ever come good for us (just like GDS before him who looked good in Spain and for his national team as Lamela has looked good for Argentina and in Italy but never in the EPL)

Delighted with the 3 points. Eriksen is really important for us.

But it was, again, an ugly win. Poch needs to play the core of this team if we are going to push forward.

I've got Eriksen in my signature team midfield because I want him to play all the time, but feel we need some pace and drive on the left. Chadli or Townsend on the left for now, but someone like konoplyanka from January. If Eriksen can play as well as Mason in midfield then I think he and Stambouli should be given a chance as the midfield pairing.
Especially against he weak teams. Chadli left and Lennon right with kane behind Soldado for now

I watched Routledge work hard today and ping cross after cross into our box. some good some bad.
I watched Lamela work hard today........ I watched Lamela work hard today.
Erik has more skill in his left toe than Routledge in his whole body but really struggled to produce any chances for our forwards. In my humble opinion he seems to be trying too hard to impress, maybe just maybe he should take a page out of Wayne's book and try the simple more effective things more often and let the magical rabona's just happen when they happen. Just saying.

You are, of course, assuming one exists.

I wonder if the penny will drop that it might be an idea to drop Soldado, go with one up front and play an extra man in midfield.

Odd that when we play one upfront people (not you SS57) moan like ****s that we should be playing 2 up top.

I don't want to give up on lamela I really don't. But he needs to do so much more. We aren't good enough to carry passengers and I'm afraid on performances like his last 3 he is a passenger. I hope we give him time but by god he is nowhere near it at the minute
How far do you give it.
I think he should go back to cup games and start as sub in the league.
And my god if someone offered 20 mill for him jump at it and give to Swansea for Bony

No thanks to Pochettino. One of the worst performances of the season, saved by a couple of moments of individual skill. I'm going to moan because not only was it awful, it was exactly what I was expecting from this manager (sorry...head coach).

He's walking on ice and the cracks are there for all to see. Not a single sign of improvement. If anything we looked even more pathetic than usual.
Harry's been gone for some time, so you need to get over it.

Lamela looks like a player in decline at the moment which is shocking for such a talented lad. Pochettino and his team need to get hold of him and coach him, get him back on track. Chadli is easily more effective. If Lamela comes through this before we get rid of him I'm sure there is a really great player there for us to enjoy.

The issue is Kane isn't a striker yet and has struggled there in the past.

Haha behave yourself. Stick to defending the players you believe played so well. Unfortunately you seem to get it wrong so often. How come mason and lamela were taken off today ?
Lamela gave the ball away 8 times, the least of our front players except for Dembele and Soldado.
Dembele gave the ball away 7 times Soldado 6.
