just about everyone is reporting that we've signed Friedel
Yeah, I think it'll be announced overnight/early morning in the next few days personally (opinion)! Unless we're waiting for the deadline, which I doubt.

English transfer window opens the day after the end of the season according to the FA rules and regulations. Many other European countries don't open until July 1st. So in theory we could register the paperwork for a player from within England, but couldn't register the paperwork for a player who is in a country where the window is still closed.
So we could sign, Torres, Rooney, Chicorito, but not Messi or Ronaldo!

If Friedel is signed as a Pletikosa replacement, you gotta ask what Harry's obsession with having 3 GK's is. Especially when Stipe was furious at being 3rd choice.

I think it's more to do with what happened in 08/09 and 09/10. Gomes got injured, and so did Cudicini (or he was already) and we had Alnqick in goal who is really really poor.

Unless Cudicini is happy to be 3rd choice now?

You lot are burying your heads in the sand if you think Friedel will be back up or even 3rd choice, he'll be coming in as 1st choice.

I think its about time we started putting bids in for Rodney, vidic, luiz etc

Really, I don't want to start any big debate about how much better than us United are, or how much more wages they can pay, but: We have never had a better chance of closing the gap since one opened up; we have a clearly better midfield, and several of their most influential players are retiring - without being replaced effectively (which is why most of our midfield is being linked with them. I am sick to death of the way that over the last 20 years, whenever we have even looked like beginning to build a team that could close that gap they have bullied us out of our best players.

It is about time the board stated blankly, on first bid No approaches for stated players are welcome, full-stop. This is our final answer. We are informing you that any further approaches will not be welcomed, and, therefore, if you persist we will conclude that you are trying to unsettle out players and will report you! Don't know what good such a report would do as the FA are such a bunch of cowards, but if things were done properly (IMHO) this would be tantamount to public tapping-up...end of.

We should then start putting in bids for their best, as luptic suggests, regardless of whether we have any chance of signing them, just to piss them off and cause disruption, and whether they tell us the approaches are unwwelcome - just to make sure they get the picture.

I know it won't happen and I'm a bit :duh: for wishing it would, but it is the only way I can see for us to get peace to finally build a team that can compete with them - to get them to leave our bluddy players alone when we tell them to.

And finally Reports have emerged that Barcelona fans sneaked into Old Trafford last night.
They unfurled a '19 times' banner in reference to the amount of times Man United touched the ball in the champions league final.

It's funny...but it's true:grin:

You have to ask why would we want Freidel as 3rd choice and as we've extended Carlo's contract you have to ask why we'd want him as 2nd choice and at his age you have to ask why we'd want him as 1st choice all of which leads me to ask why would we want him at all?

Because Harry feels he's better than Gomes. Friedel has played about 300 consecutive games, he's not coming here to sit on the bench.

Friedel will be 1st choice imo, will also prob buy a young keeper as well to play in the carling cup games and challenge Friedel, Carlo will be 3rd choice imo

I think we will end up selling Gomes, brining in Friedel, and some young keeper, possibly the one Roger Morgan liked us with yesterday, who will ultimately end up taking Friedels place. I can kind of see the logic of it as long as the young guy is good
