Bringing in Friedel means that Gomes is being sold.

Which must mean we're definitely buying Leandro, to make sure Sandro has another Brazilian in the side to continue feeling settled and to make sure he has no funny ideas about moving on.

Because I'm ambivalent about the whole scenario. Would welcome Leandro, but definitely don't want to see Gomes go.

And possibly because the whole "players need a fellow countryman (in Modric's case at least 3) to feel settled in a place" argument isn't necessarily fully logical. I dislike quite a few of my countrymen (and I work for an embassy, so I'm truly in a home away from home)..

That makes two of us.

I do agree but Sandro and Leandro are actually good mates and Sandro has often spoke about how he wouldn't have been able to settle without Gomes, so it does make a difference.

Yeh only Sandro is what 22, and he doesn't know English too well either, he also is known to get on very well with Gomes, and is best friend with Leandro. Just like modders is best friends with Charlie. For someone of that age it can really help having someone who can speak your language and help you settle in.

Brad Friedel?! Starting the transfer window as we mean to go on.

I hope Levy puts his foot down regarding buying a team of OAPs. Experience is needed yes but a 40 year old number 1 is taking the piss.

no disrespect to Friedel, but signing a 40 yr old goalie to actually be nr 1 is about as clueless as it gets. Like Van Der Sar said, it's all going downhill quite fast at that age. There are more than enough solid goalies out there anyway. We'd better sign one of those.

Funny that United just won the title and got to the European Cup Final with a keeper that just turned 40 too...

Terrible argument.

1.) VDS has now retired from football.
2.) Friedal is no VDS.
3.) Spurs are no Utd.

I don't mind us signing a Gomes replacement, but he has to be a clear upgrade on Gomes, which Friedal is definitely not.
