This is in response to a tweet mentioning newspaper link to Manuel Lanzini

Lanzini is very close to joining Besiktas. A Besiktas board member confirmed yesterday that a last offer was made for him. Gallardo, current manager of River, said that there is a big chance thzt Lanzini will leave River this transfer window.

If it's the Argie we are after, we might have to act quickly.

His name was touted on the basis of his steller Sociedad form, not for France.

Akin to James Rodriguez who a few of us were banging the drum before he made the move to Monaco and way before he blew up big style in the WC.

Wait any longer and he'll be in the clutches of a mega club with an abundance of riches so it's basically now or never.

It really depends on what money we've got available.

Whilst Griezmann is a top quality player, we need a passing midfielder, a striker and a centre back more at the moment so if we were going to go for Griezman we'd have to be certain that there was enough cash to get the rest of the positions filled.

Would love to have him...but just don't see it happening.

So the info from JJ about Schneiderlin depending on Sandro, means we are still operating on a sell first to make room before an arrival. So realistically we have to wait for a CB until Dawson moves out, or Kaboul.. but shows us our Purchase philosophy is based on outs. Our squad is pretty huge and bloated.... dont see much happening this summer.

Griezmann does seem to have a 'flavour of the month' about him because of a good world cup , and when we are short of money, it does seem over the top paying 20m+ on the basis of a good world cup, so am kinda glad JJ knocked the idea on the head

Schneiderlin is far more important to our needs and we cant afford both

I'm not sure that it's right to generalise about our entire transfer policy from one specific situation as reported by JJ.

However , you're right about the squad size so I'm sure some more sales will take place if we are able to secure better new signings.

Before anyone else asks me the Griezman stuff is glorified paper talk.

My personal opinion, is that JJ might be be somewhat underplaying the interest. What I mean to say is, I believe (football term for I hope) that when papers are reporting "Bidding", we are in fact observing curiously from a distance, rather than having our backs turnedg.
Anyway, maybe that's an added benefit to A&C's opening post, the cryptic within his straight forward message. We have our eyes open and fixed, but our wallet closed for the time being.
