I don't get it that Bilic compared Modric to Kaka yet plays him that deep. Does Modric always play that deep for Croatia?

I don't think he's been great so far. Had a good ten minutes but Austria have been on top since then. A few very good passes though

Just wish he would get higher up the pitch. He is clearly being told to do that as I don't remember him being that deep once against England. Still he is quality. I think it is what Ramos wants from all our new signings, great technical ability on the ball. He said something similar about G2S.

I don't get it. Croatia don't seem to want to play football. I think that is dangerous. These Austrians look decent from set pieces and if you invite them forward, they're going to get more set pieces. Croatia needs another goal. SEND MODRIC PAST THE HALF WAY LINE!

If Ramos wants to play a 4-4-2 with our FBs and wide midfielders attacking down the flanks, Luka will be ideal as our creative CM. He passes the ball very quickly and always looks for the forward ball. Rather like a certain Michael Carrick.

In Juande's Sevilla 4-4-2, the CMs were fairly flat but moved the ball quickly and aggressively. Luka is perfect for that system.

He set up that entire attack too, winning the ball in midfield and found a hole to run into.

Modric is quite small. Looking quite lively, though, especially on the ball. This Croatia team is really not playing well, letting Austria keep pushing forward and outmuscling them.

again all the praise from the commentary team is for Modric

i know he is heading for England after this and they are bound to talk about him quite a bit but this match (without him being spectacular) has convince me we have got a gem of a player coming to the lane

The more of this game that I see the less and less impressed i am with Croatia. Austria deserve a draw here.

The Austrians need to stop shooting from 25+ yards, because they are crap at it.

I'm not so sure. i think players are having a lot of difficulty keeping the ball down when shooting from distance. Even Ronaldo was having a bit of trouble. Hopefully Frings will play tonight and we'll see from his shooting whether it is the ball or just plain rubbish shooting. If it is down to the ball then God help Zoko if it gets used in the EPL next season.

Olic is too tired to make it to the subs bench lol

Austria are well worth a draw from what i have seen

handball claim but ref is for some reason 20 odd yards outside the box even though the "handball" came from an attacking throw in the corner flag

Austria has been dominating Croatia the entire latter half of this half...Croatia cant play the ball out of their half and the croatian strikers are useless at holding the ball.
