Austria has been dominating Croatia the entire latter half of this half...Croatia cant play the ball out of their half and the croatian strikers are useless at holding the ball.

The Croation strikers are just useless full stop. Thats why they had to import a brazilian

Croatia had a good 30 minutes which was enough to win - they passed the ball around very well in the midfield but did not have competent enough strikers to really punish Austria. Austria played very well but also lacked a cutting edge in front of goal.

i guess you could say they did what they had to do

they got the win and thats all the matters at this stage

wasnt impressed by croatia from what i saw though really. they obviously miss Eduardo an awful lot

Austria played with a lot of guts, but they lost and deservedly so IMO--if you can't get it done at the attacking end then you don't deserve to win. End of. Its harsh, but that's football right? [would be different, of course, if it were England ]

blotto england never play with guts though thats the reason why we aint there

austria did their fans proud but they were never likely to win or even draw seeing as they are similarly ranked as Mozambique in the world rankings

i wasn't really impressed by Luka,i thought he was an ACM but most of the time he was the deepest out of the two CM's..he was also caught ball watching loads of times and the game just seemed to pass him by..when on the ball he did spray a few nice passes and his run towards the end was good, shame about the final pass though

Germany 1 up at HT. Pretty good game too. Podolski(who is playing left midfield) with the goal.

Anyone else go a bit mental when he scored?

Thought he had an OK game, looking forward to playing against better opposition...

Looked very calm on the ball, can't wait till he plays at the lane!

That ref is definitely trying to be like Collina, but he's just keeping his cards in his pocket too much

Yeah, I know--I was only kidding . As I said earlier, we aren't there because we don't deserve to be. There's just too much hype the squad these days--too much hype and not enough heart, that's the SM era in a packet.

As for Austria, their fans should be proud and they made a fight of it but in the end you have to get the job done in the attacking third, right? They had chances and did not convert, unfortunately football is a pitiless game.

Awesome goal from Podolski again. Though Poland's defence has been playing like shit.

funny how both the most dangerous 'german' players are actually polish, namely klose and podolski.
