Just a thought on the sides.

In the paramount comptition in European football the two teams in the final there are only three players in the English premier league which if you include the oher two semi fanalists I think jumps right up to four.

Doesn't say much for the EPL does it.

but then again, looking at the CL semi final and quaters, and even final, it makes the EPL right up there at the top

Ballack was in front of him, sorry I just can't agree with you on this one.

yeah ballack was infrount of him, pushing him backwards, which is why Senna moved from under the ball to having to put his head forward, and into Ballack

Most of the German players play in Germany.

Most of the Spanish players play in Spain.

You seem intent on arguing with me Yid-ol fair enough., whatever.

Cetainly think the ref's doing his best for them.

Senna was intentional so was Silva's and yet he books Torres whose wasn't. ??

no i do kinda agree with what you were saying about the teams in the final and here, but doesnt make the EPL bad, i just dont think tis as good as spain, but wont be really as bad as germany and some others, still a good league

was abit confused by the torres one, Silva should have been booked at least also

What are the odds the BBC mention that 2 years after Spain won the European championship England won the world cup?

They might end the show with it!

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it, Spain winning a trophy--that is to say, Spain not bottling it at the last. Fair play, they played better--and really had a pretty strong tourney.

...though this may mean that we (England that is) stand alone now amongst the football world's greatest underachievers, depending on whether or not one believes that one trophy can erase years of horrible failure and underachievement...(I think so )

Germany were poor again. Well done Spain fully deserved it. What a tournament it's been. Made up for the loss of England.

Really good tournament, really enjoyed it. Maybe enjoyed the football more because England weren't that (if that makes sense). Having said that, it still doesn't have the magic of a world cup. Congrats to Spain anyway.

Just saw that Modric was named in the UEFA select team, can't remember all the names, but there were a lot of Spaniards. I think Altintop, Arshavin, Casillas, Senna, Modric, Villa, Schweinsteiger, Ballack, Puyol but I don't remember the last two.

Edit: I misunderstood and it was actually not the official team of the tournament but Uefa.com top 10 players. The other player missing from the list was Wesley Sneijder. Of course that list includes 6 midfielders, 2 forwards, a defender and a keeper so the official team of the tournament probably won't include Modric (although it should). Ballack was mostly a non-entity so I would be disappointed, but unsurprised if he made the select team.

What was everybody's moment of the tournament?
Mine was when Croatia made in 1-0 in the 119th minute then Turkey equalising in the 122nd minute. That was unbelievable.

Nihat's winner against Czech Republic. For some reason I jumped out of my seat when he scored.

Great fucking tournament. The best international tournament for a very, very long while for me. Backed spain before the start and did a Villa top scorer/Spain winners 44/1 special double with Betfair. Great tourny, for once the best team won, in style, and I collected. Faith in football (and my punting prowess) restored. Nirvana.
