Prediction:-We will not lose anymore games home or away to any but the top 4 sides. this team is improving hand over fist and will finish in the top half of the table, and with a little luck we will win a cup.....COYS

I would happily accept mid-table and a cup (preferably UEFA) this season with the start we've had.

We should be looking top 8 at least. Cups require a certain amount of luck, hopefully we'll get some.

4pts from the drop..and now a gap has appeared above us..west ham in 10th 7pts clear..we're almost half way through the season and we have 18 poxy points.

18pts :bang:.. the fulham and reading games are now must win games..the two after i cant see us getting much...

come on spurs ..i thought you'd stopped putting me through this...

Oh come on.. They aren't 'must wins'! Spurs will not be relegated (if that's your angle). Not because we're too big to or anything like that; more the absolute that the team we have will amass 40pts+ if they played the rest of the season at 75%.

This season, league wise, is simple a write off. It was always going to be after the start we made and the start other competitors for 5th spot made i.e. Everton, Man City and Villa.

Subsequently however I do think we'll be much better for it next year. Ramos will have had ample time to assess the squad the league the opposition and the requirements. So let not your heart be troubled and look to 2008... Hmm you may be right about Spurs putting us through things we thought we'd got over - 'Next season' I'm sure I've heard that before

We've just won 3 very tough games including 2 tough away games and people are worried? We are far better now than we were even in November, it's been an almost overnight change. I really feel that we're on the way up the table now, I wouldn't be surprised to see us making up a lot of ground in the next few weeks.

I don't think we can finish 4th unless Liverpool start getting really sloppy but I won't be surprised to see us above ManC and Pompey in may

As is well known to some anyway on these boards I tend to be a big worrier about spurs - and while we're so near the relegation zone I will worry about the unthinkable -

Even at our lowest this season I still didn't think we would get relegated but I foresaw a long long relegation battle this season - Ramos has given us hope of clambering clear quicker than seemed possible after our home defeat to Rovers - but we haven't climbed clear yet -

7 points from the next 3 and I'll stop worrying - trouble is I don't think we'll get that many

the problem is that we played well yet still got nothing - we were unlucky to lose to brum, we were unlucky not to get all the points against west ham, we were unlucky we didn't get anything at liverpool and manu. we were unlucky not to beat bolton we were unlucky not getting a point against sunderland. we are unlucky that Ledley is injured and Bale and Rocha etc......do you see a pattern emerging? Yes I can see the improvement over recent weeks and we finally got what we deserved against pompey and citeh, but if our luck doesn't change then we could still be in the shake up
to be honest, i'd be more concerned if we were losing games NOT deserving anything from them, at least playing well, our luck will eventually change.

even if we win the next 2, we will end 2007 in 12th at the very best! but I think the signs are there that the new coach and staff are doing very well

everton are the lock for 5th in my eyes, we may be able to nick 6th but it will require some top signings in jan and one hell of a run of wins, not draws, wins

We need to write this season off realistically (which was always the case after winning 1 game from our first 12 or whatever it was.

Need to consolidate/survive this season and look forward to next. Use this season to change and improve things that will hopefuly come to fruition next year.

We are definately much better than our league position (everywhere but in defence). Just contrast our performance yesterday and Everton's today. Or even ours at OT and theirs.

Disagree a bit on writing this season off BC. With premier league clubs receiving between £35m and £50m this season depending on where they finish in the league and tv appearances, this season more than ever before we need to be aiming as high as possible, notwithstanding our bad start.

Winning one of the cups to get into Europe for a third consecutive year should also be a priority.

Fair shout MP. I see where BC was coming from though - his thoughts were very similar to mine. I think what we're saying is its a w/o in the sense of a top 5 finish.

Hopefully as well as doing well in the cups we'll get home draws.

i think we'll end somewhere between 7th and 9th.

and i can see us going far in euro cup and the cups....but not winning anything.

but, god, do i hope for a cup win. it would be awesome. i remember smiling madly while celebrating when allan nielsen headed home in injury-time in 1999. i was only twelve then and after the goal i was quickly surrounded by grown up men crying and hugging each other (including my father and my brother). will never forget that day.

Well we won't win the premiership if that's what you mean (I hope that's what you mean), but 4th is still on although we'd pretty much have to beat Chelsea and Liverpool away and ManU at home to get it. 5th or 6th is more likely but we still have to work hard and make sure we go into next season with the right attitude and experience.

We are going to finish around 8th or 9th. Unless we win in Europe, or the League Cup, we won't be on a European Tour next year =(.

Agreed, plus we are bound to bring in atleast another centre back (most likely of Ramos' choice) which should help sure up the defence further.

Signs of improvemnt from Ramos' coaching are already evident (in terms of fitness and desire and teamwork, atleast from the time were Jol's postion had been undermind) This will only continue to improve with time and more coaching (as everyone gets on the same page so to speak)

Im sure this season is a write off in terms of CL ambitions or even a top 6 place, but it will hopefully be a case of one step back for 2 forward next year.

A cup success would be amazing, although im not as condfident as most on us achieving such success this year. We have Arsenal in a two legged affair next and if we mange to get by that we will likely have to beat Chelsea (who have made that cup their own recently)

The FA cup still seems to be shared by the top four and will be very hard to break their grasp of it.

The Uefa cup has the likes of Bayern Munich (who are flying in their league.)

It would be a mammoth achievement to win any silverwear this year, however Ramos certainly does have a knack for lifting cups it would seem (so fingers crossed, although im not expecting)

Like Yazz said, the only way is up.

It could be a lot worse. Yes there is a slight gap apearing, but those teams directly above have some tough challenges.
