You know this is bigger than results over 10 games. Nuno has been here for 17 games and shown few signs of improvement or even a team identity.

If Conte has not imposed his will on the team after 17 matches, and we still can’t put a shot on goal, I will feel depressed.

But Nuno still had to go - it wasn’t working and no signs that it would ever work for him.

If Conte comes and in 10 games picks up the same number of points Nuno did how will you feel?
perfectly fine because we have an elite coach with an elite pedigree at the helm.

i’ll rest easy knowing that, when he gets *his* squad, we’ll be challengers.

Well it wouldn't be ideal but at least we'd have a proven top manager to sort things out in the longer term. Their CVs are utterly incomparable.

Our points total so far this season has been very fortuitous based on our play, and our metrics for what we produce as a team are in the gutter so I'm sure we will improve on that either way.

That's what Paratici is here for.

He'll continue making signings for the future, like Gil and Sarr (we may have to loan them out though)

Conte will be focused on maximising the team for the here and now.
I fully expect to see some statement signings in the next few windows, dont see how we dont with Conte in charge.

Ali Gold worried Conte is for the now, not the future. If we leave the now, we fall further behind for the future.
Why would you rather a manager for the future when you could have a manger for now?

That’s overthinking things and arriving at a bad conclusion. You appoint a project manager (Poch in 2014) in the hope that you might eventually improve and win something (we improved, but didn’t win anything). You appoint someone like Conte because he might win something immediately. That’s better than a manager for the future.

He's now worried about the money he spends. Levy really has rubbed off on us!

do like AG though, heart on sleeve.

Such a shame he won't have had preseason with us. By pissing around so much this summer, Levy and Paratici have hobbled us this season. Normally it's just late signings but this year he's outdone himself.

Anyone else a little concerned about the alleged length of the contract?

18 months isn't long and as good as Conte is, it would be a miracle if we won the league next season, even if Levy gets him the players he wants.

But, then perhaps 18 months is just to give both sides a chance to check each other out?

And if Conte does decide to leave after 18 months then I believe that he has a good chance of leaving us in the CL, at least.

I’m honestly buzzing. This will be a wild ride for sure.

The scum and West Ham current form will have had an impact on this decision as well I think. We can’t fall behind them.

it’s still early enough in the season and we’re still close enough to the pack and in all cups to have a decent season

I can't wait for us to implement the proper way of playing back3 formation.
Conte has the needed ingredients in back line and forward line.
It is to be seen if, Emerson can play the way he wants at RWB. CM is a worry - Ndombele will get his chance. As much as many fans dont like Lo Celso, I can actually see him get a run under Conte.

I would not be surprised if we line up this way once Conte takes over.

Llloris
Sanchez, Romero, Dier,
Emerson, Hojbjerg, LoCelso,Reguillon
Ndomebele
Kane Son

In Jan, we need a CM. Striker and LCB. Also WB

Is it just me who still isn't believing this is done and dusted? Unless it's signed surely anything can still go wrong?

2 + 1 is a pretty standard form of managerial contracts nowadays.

Its now the post-covid way of doing things
Tuchel also came in on a 18month contract at Chelsea. Now he has got a new contract. We may follow the same way, if things work out

We essentially just told the Saudi’s they’ll have stiff competition for the top players in the January market. They’ll have the bottomless pit of money, yes but with the very real & present danger of a 46 game season in the 2nd tier while we’ll have the facilities, the hope of a better tomorrow without a threat of relegation & one of the top 3 managers in football. Levy & Joe have got nowhere to turn now. Time to put their money where their mouth is

There’s an option for another 12 months.

Conte will lift the whole club. Which is what we needed after Jose but better late than never.

Buzzing for his passion ???⚽️?

Assuming this gets over the line, I'm more looking forward to the atmosphere on Thursday night than the actual game.

The supporters made their feelings known on Saturday afternoon and, for once they were listened to.

Place should be absolutely rocking come 20.00 Thursday evening.
