Would be happy enough with FbB but think Pochettino is being seriously underrated. He is clearly an excellent coach of young players but also capable of improving existing first teamers. Someone is welcome to correct me but I don't think any of Lambert, Lallana, Rodriguez or Shaw had played for England before he went to Southampton. Same goes for Schneiderlin, now called up by France for World Cup stand by.
He has done just as much at Southampton as Rodgers did at Swansea and is going to be a top manager for someone.
Easy to forget the negativity around when he replaced Adkins. Might be useful for him if he comes to us!

Since Enic took over there have only been 3 out of season appointments - Santini, Ramos and AVB. That doesn't fill me with much hope. I bloody hope the reason we appointed Sherwood was to give us time to do some serious manager vetting.

I think this appointment is more about accepting the working conditions under Levy, and that relationship is massively key! Too many times things have fallen apart badly and you can clearly see the managers breaking under severe pressure.

Yep, Hoddle pissed the gutter press off and they nailed him for it.
It's bo**ocks innit...
My bro was at a football do where Paul Merson was doing after dinner speech. Merson suggested Hoddle was the best coach he & his peers had ever played under: Hoddle gave genuine belief in everything he wanted players to do... I know I'm slightly bitter cos Hoddle was my teenage footballing hero, but I reckon he never saw his coaching star shine as it could/should have...

But they both have had success while Poch has had nothing.

What do you mean by success? Rodgers has never won a trophy, he only had one good premier league season at Swansea. Since when is a trophy a requirement of success?

Pochettino has nothing? Playing excellent football, finishing above the expected position, has he not been a success? Of course he has. Also saved Espanyol from relegation.

Trophies aren't the only success. Rodgers has done amazingly well with that Liverpool squad. If Poch is your answer and you think he's successful then good for you (for me he's average)I fear for spurs with him, that's my opinion. He's not an improvement over Harry or AVB. He got out smarted by Tim. Each to their own, I'll back him if he gets the job, but he's an easy cheap option for Levy.

That was my exact point though. Before going on to Liverpool what had he done? Had 1 good season with Swansea in the premier league.

I understand it's your opinion I just really don't see how you've come to the conclusion that he's average. Also, "he got out smarted by Tim" doesn't necessarily mean anything, Poyet has outsmarted Mourinho twice this season, Chris Hughton and Steve Kean have beaten Fergie in the past few years. If you're a fan of Rodgers then who was he outsmarted by this season? Pochettino.

Baring in mind I completely understand there are risks to appointing Pochettino, as there are with any appointment.

He didn't get outsmarted at all, our player quality shone through. Exactly where did tactics come into it? ......... No where that's where.

I actually want fdb before people start spitting buts lets not get twisted, TS lucked his results. The only tactical

Expected as much. Didn't think we'd do otherwise after what happened with Ramos. Spurs fans need a connection with their manager.

I've noticed the trend of a lot of fans being all for FDB pretty much straight away, but skeptical of Poch. However after some research agree he is a decent alternative (even if they still prefer FDB)

I actually think the well articulated and frankly exciting 'come and get me pleas' from Frank are a big part of this. At the moment it's like a political campaign where one guy is hiding in the shadows and hasn't even communicated why he should be selected. Spurs fans have no idea of his personality due to the translator and him doing his talking on the pitch.

If he comes in day one, does the press conference in English and says some exciting stuff about his plans that resonate with the fans he won't be a problem at all. He's also a lot closer to AVB than Sherwood in the appearance stakes for our fashion police supporters out there...

Mate that's quite a U-turn, why the sudden change out of interest?
I honestly can't put my finger on why i've changed my mind.

Since he became the clear favourite i've been reading up alot on him, and i guess i've warmed to him. He has received praise from some of the best in the game, people who know far, far more than me, and his football philosophies do actually suit us.

Oddly, being at the Lane on monday and seeing the total partisian support of one man made me realise that whoever does come in, deserves my undivided support regardless of if he was my pick or not.

And if he does succeed, i can see him sticking around for the long term, and more than anything, this club needs stability. Something we haven't had since Harry was in charge. Unfortunately, i could see somebody like FDB jumping ship if he was offered the barca/real job after one season.

I'm starting to come round to the idea of Pochettino, and if he actually brings Jay Rodriguez with him, i'll be sold.
According to the Telegraph article, your wish could come true!

I'm also less anti-Poch, far less TBH and I do like him- Nevertheless I would still prefer FDB or Benitez.

Some of the managers that Southampton fans want make interesting reading lol!!

Big clamour for Benitez and Laudrup. Shouts out to our own Tim and AVB (not many granted)

But they view Malky as dull as dishwater.
