Another viewpoint from a Southampton fan. Excellent read this...

http://cartilagefreecaptain.sbnatio...uricio-pochettino-tottenham-hotspur-interview

SOLD! We will take him! Great find is this and the other Southampton fan views that you found. The more I read about him the more I really think Poch is the man to take us forward. If given the job I just hope the FDB and Benitez ball suckers will support him and give him time, not just moan at any given opportunity and create early bad vibes.

The more I read about him the more I am swayed towards appointing him.

Me too. Then there itk about de boer and I'm back to thinking about him.

Basically I think pochettino, de boer and Benitez can get this squad to 5th. We need to appoint the one we are sure can get fourth and because of his record I think it should be Benitez. But then again I change my mind every 5 minutes!

I have to admit, I am warming to Pooch, but then I like FDB and philosophy with youth.

I read something pooch and think yeah I like that, then I read something FDB and I think yeah.

I don't know who I want any more.

But I was thinking last night about Lamela, and thinking Pooch, and thinking Lamela will get a damn good chance. Then I thought about Verts and Eriksen and then though FDB..

Then my head just imploded and I dribbled like homer on doughnut feeding frenzy.

I don't know any more, I honestly just don't know.

You clearly haven't seen an Ajax game, and are relying on more on the Michel's idea, than the facts.

Not something I would consider important.

True, but the foundation was already there. He won't have that here.

He didn't transform anything. He actually benefitted from the Ajax setup. He was wise in how to use it, but the structure was already there. It's actually one of the arguments been used against him.

Not important imo. He's selling himself

Ok, you don't agree fair enough. I was only replying to Sloth who asked why I wanted fdb. These are my personal opinions and there are loads more supporting arguments and articles on the fdb thread which I think a lot of pro poch people are missing and vice versa.

Interesting perspective from a Saints fan posting on the Fighting Cock forum....

Saints fan in peace.
Very interesting reading all the different opinions on Poch on here.

Seems like every player, manager and coaching staff at Southampton is linked to another club at the moment, which I guess means we are at least doing something right, but it doesn't half do my head in!

We will of course lose key people, but for my money the single most important (Over and above Lallana, Shaw, Lovern etc.) is Poch.

I've been following Saints for over 30 years home and away this guy is the real deal and just a breath of fresh air in the Premiership. 8th is a very credible finish, but it could have have been higher. We were a quality striker away from something very special and it really is down to him.

No idea what way this whole thing will pan out, (And I fully understand the footballing pecking order), you lot are a much bigger club, but don't just assume he will join if offered the chance.
As long as you don't get him ..... Good luck for next season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think he would do an incredible job at Spurs - But there will be casualties
He will lay out his ideas and ethos out and the players will need to buy into them and not all of them will.
The unanswered question with regard to Poch is how he manages the "Bigger" players. At Espanyol and Saints he hasn't really had any superstars, to have to mould or develop (It is easier to dictate how you want things done to young or ego free players). For those that do buy into him or as a minimum simply tow the line, he will get the very best out of them and I think that is his biggest skill. He will also improve and develop the younger players, which seems to be his mantra.

Player for player you have a better squad than us - If he can knit them together and playing to their potential in the way he done for us, then you'll be very successful.
There is a conflict between expectation and developing the younger players, so without knowing what Levy wants in that department it's hard to comment how that will play out, but don't be surprised to suddenly see unknown players from your academy on the bench or even in the team. I am probably just a soppy old sod, but there is something very gratifying about watching homegrown talent and Poch will give them a chance.

As I said before, I could live with losing all our star players if we got to keep him and hope we do everything we can to keep him.
Oh and For the purists amongst you - you will play the best football you have for years.

Exactly.

I don't get this thing about superstars. What players at Spurs would you call a "superstar" ? Lloris maybe... and he's quiet and humble. Perhaps Vertonghen (in his mind). Paulinho? ...no chance. He was playing in Brazil not long ago.

I don't know why that even gets brought up. "Can't keep the superstars happy" .... wtf We're not Barca lol

My disappointment in the news that things have seemingly swung back FDBs shocked me a little bit. Guess I don't hold the two as closely as I once thought (even had FDB edging it initially)

Then these excellent finds re Southampton fans have really made my mind up. I'm pro-Pochettino.

(That said if FDB gets the nod I will support him fully and get excited about the things he said when the interest leaked)

Once again my head explodes as I can't decide.

Damn those sexy South Americans... Wait, I am male... Oh fuuuuu :shifty:

You read this bit, right...?

UM: Who's the next wonder-kid who will emerge out of Southampton's outstanding academy?

CA: James Ward-Prowse is pretty highly regarded, as is Calum Chambers. But they've both already represented the first team. It's important for me to make clear here that Pochettino has played about ten academy graduates in competitive fixtures this year, and doesn't lack the bottle required. The young players at the club all speak about the immense faith and confidence he puts in them. His sheer conviction and commitment to youth development is amazing, he has travelled all over the country following academy games below Under 18 level.

I'd say possibly Matthew Targett, or maybe Josh Sims. Targett is an England U19 left-back and currently No. 2 to Shaw, whilst Sims is only 17, yet has represented England at youth levels with remarkable success. Sims is a tricky and fluid attacking player capable of playing anywhere in an attacking three, drawing comparisons to Lallana.

Feel better about his youth development philosophy now? :)

I want this sorted already.

I actually watched Southamptons 4 -0 thrashing of Newcastle last night to confirm my opinion that Poch's style of play would be perfect for us.

If he can get us playing like the Saints then I have no doubt all the naysayers will soon be on board. The guy is perfect for our squad.

I just hope the luke warm reception from the fans hasn't swayed Levy back to FdB.

I am worrying that we are assisting Barnett to get a Pochettino a new contract whilst giving ourselves leverage in negotiations with FDB.

On the other hand I do believe a meeting of sorts would have taken place this week with Poch/his agent and I do fully believe he would have impressed Levy greatly as reported. When you also consider JJ didn't suggest otherwise despite him being the 'unpopular' pick (which he did to appease people last time with AVB I think there is still hope)

Plus even if Levy was blown away I would never expect him to appoint him before speaking to the others based on what happened last time.

.

That's my concern. I'd be happy with FDB but if people think the football is going to be blistering they are in for a shock, it will be considered and careful.

If the fans only took a bit of time to bone up on Tino there would be no contest as he embodies exactly what we all yearn for on the field.

I'm not sure luke warm is the correct description of the fans reaction. The majority seem to see all his positives but favour others like FDB, that isn't really a slight against the guy, this isn't the sort of reaction Sherwood was getting when he was being appointed.
