It's odd. It seems to me that most of the people that like Pochettino willingly admit/believe that FdB would be a good hire as well and would be happy with either, whilst most of the people that like FdB think Pochettino would be a massive failure. Can't figure that one out.

I've noticed this as well, I'd be perfectly happy with either but find myself posting in support of Poch cos the stuff written about him by the naysayers.

Levy needs to appoint someone soon as people are becoming so entrenched in their views whoever gets the job supporters of the other are going to be waiting for any tiny mistake to jump on. Unfortunatley Levy doesn't work like that

He's just a fat Michael Laudrup.

Well not exactly, but it's fair to say that when we were first linked with Pochettino I thought it was mildly interesting, and not a move I'd be dead against (though certainly not one of my preferences).

Now, thanks to some frankly laughable and tetchy posts from people I thought would know better, I've really gone off the idea. Seems there are a few posters on here who are hell bent on creating divides, lapping up all the positives showered on Pochettino, but refusing to acknowledge even the faintest hint of concern or criticism. Probably the same lot that automatically assume a player is a world beater simply because we've been linked with them.

He'll have my full support as I always want Spurs to do well, but when this appointment turns out to be a miserable failure rest assured I'll be thinking of those posters.
You say he has your support but then go on to say he is essentially going to fail. That does not sound like support

I thought calling him a fat Michael Laudrup and then going on to talk about supporting him was funny!

Not really. It's like saying that you're more hopeful than expectant about the appointment.

Only if I shout that to him from the stands, Einstein.

I'd cheer on Rose too. Doesn't mean I wouldn't expect him to fuck things up.

You have won me over Mr Tank. I am now officially as excited about Pocettino as I am FDB. I don't care if I don't enjoy the last 30 minutes of any games, I am going to enjoy the fucking shit out of the first 60. And I am going to enjoy the fucking bejesus out of knowing what he's doing on the training ground twice a day. Hell, I'd rather have a season ticket for training.

Good article and thanks for sharing.

It confirms a few of my concerns but goes some way to assuage my fears in other areas.

I've seen Southampton a few times and have been impressed but haven't really studied them. Pleased to know he favours 4-2-3-1, with 3 players roaming behind the front man, which I always preferred as opposed to AVB's 4-3-3 which seemed far more rigid to me, relying on the WF's to basically pull something out of the bag themselves. So that's a big plus point.

AVB played 4231 the vast majority of his games with Spurs ? He hardly ever played 433.

Now I don't care which one of Poch and FDB we get, we'll go and get fucking Benitez won't we.

I wanted FDB but Mr Pink Jedi mind tricked me. I think Think tank and JS have put some good literature out there along with their own views of course.

Like you, I'm now equally excited about both

We say the same kind of things when we lose our best players to the Real Madrids and Uniteds of the world. We're not deluded at the time. We're just seeing red and we say things as such knowing it's ridiculous. Perfectly natural and no need to judge them harshly on it.

I don't think we've ever said that Bale, Modric or anyone else could do better than Real Madrid and that they're not really much of a step up from Spurs.

Because that would have been silly.

All that was said about Madrid was that we didn't like the way they go about their business.

Which is altogether a different matter.

So what the Saints fans are saying about us is not really the same kind of thing at all.

Einstein? Trying to be witty/insulting now?

It seems like setting him up to fail, which is not really support is it?

I don't think you fully understand the notion of support. I don't expect him to be a success, but seeing as it makes no difference what I think, I'm hardly setting him up for a fall...especially if I vocally support him in the stadium.

Maybe you will sit at home waving your Pochettino flag. That makes about as much difference as someone thinking he will fail, and saying so on a forum.

It's amazing that it needs spelling out.

Ya know, I've always been anti hypocrite.
I'll give you an example. Didn't like AVB before we got him, wasn't keen on him once we got him so didn't feel the need to support him, especially with a deep feeling it was going to go belly up.
But I didn't boo him or sing AVB out.
I just didn't sing his praise at the lane.

You don't have to cheer on useless dead wood, but you don't have to create negativity with booing.

Who said I wanted Pochettino?

You never said you think he will fail, you have said he will fail and that makes it seem like you are certain of it. Just because one supporter goes to the stadium every week doesn't mean he is necessarily a better supporter than one who doesn't. When things are unclear of course will need spelling out, so why not jump down from the high horse and next time try to explain without coming across as condescending
