I've not changed my opinion about throwing the League Cup game at home to our biggest rivals at all.

Are you implying that because we're having an amazing season Poch hasn't made one single mistake or misjudgement?
As The Matrix of Spurs Community, I would like to point out that you said the team selection would be vindicated if we finished in the Top 4 (and beat City in the next game).

No, I said that we had better do so as it would be the only way to justify the team selection and result in any way.

We have done so, which is brilliant - it doesn't suddenly mean I'm going to be ok with throwing a game at home to Arsenal, though.

I don't get why this is so difficult for a small number of people to simply accept and move on from.

I was pretty pissed of with that at the time as well. I mean, it was Arsenal and we played fucking Fazio. Anyway, not bothered now, obviously.

I love going back over old threads and seeing gems like this :)

Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it? Nothing wrong whatsoever in what I posted at the time. Why you would feel the need to act all smug and drag out old posts is truly baffling. Very happy to be wrong about my initial thoughts about Pochettino, he's done a great job. I can't be bothered to check all your previous posts over the years to see if you've ever got anything wrong because well, it would be pretty sad wouldn't it.

Wow. Relax mate. I'm sure I've been wrong about tons of stuff. Just was catching up and having a little fun, that's all. Sorry I offended you! Thought we were all friends here...

Oh take it with some grace man.

You were the one who fucked up and was wrong. Just acknowledge it and move on. No reason to attack him because you were wrong about something.

We completely outplayed Arsenal in the cup though?

Sincere apologies if this is widely known and posted elsewhere but I just read this on redcafe:

"Bought a multi-million pound house last week just a couple of minutes from the Spurs training ground.

Might not mean much of course because he can afford it as an investment, but it tends to suggest that his family is settled in the area and he has said how much they love London. One of his sons plays for the Spurs U15 team and his other lad is doing part of his degree in Sports Science at the club.

As and when he goes to Spain it will more likely be to Real than Barca, I live in Spain and he is just about the most talked about manager from outside of Spain in the press here, Marca which is Real's mouthpiece are always doing pieces about him."
Ehhhrh, I call (partially) shit from the bull.
Is it not extremely widely known how much Poch loves Barcelona (the city) specifically?

Ho Ho this is funny to read through. Of course not being here at the time means you can't check on me, but honestly I wanted MoPo from the start, though I can understand some fans apprehension - that's normal if you're a spud! My reasons being a combination of playing more attractive football, bringing the youngsters through (as he did at Saints), and sorting out young Erik and turning him into something special. But I never expected him to do it so damn quick!!

Seriously?

I've never heard a Spurs fan use the term 'spud' before. It's generally used as a derogatory (and very unimaginative and irritating) term by fans of rival clubs. Just a bit weird to see it used on here, other than in the 'What are our opponents saying about us' page.

I don't think "spuds" is derogatory or irritating but each to their own. I know several arsenal fans who call themselves gooners too - and they're proud to be so. I guess I come from an older generation that was much more tolerant. I remember my late dad was in the army and to call your mate spud wasn't at all derogatory in any way; it actually meant you'd been accepted and were one of the crowd.
What's irritating to me are people who've got nothing better to do than trawl through honest posts that aren't swearing, personal attacks on others, or rude in any way, just to pick up people on minor things that are largely just related to an age gap and what was basically a misinterpretation of a term of togetherness more than anything else, especially in this season to end all seasons......
I mean if I called you an over pompous, self important and picky pain in the Paxton End, I could understand your displeasure.

I don't know if you use any of the blogs on Spurs news now, but I've seen several Spurs fans using that name - from memory "Samurai Spud" and "Flying Spud", probably older guys too who don't mind a jokey name that doesn't take itself too seriously. I've seen "gooners" and "spammers" as part of names too....

Fair do's, maybe it is a generational thing. Btw, I'd prefer it if you called me a pompous, self important pain in the Park Lane End. Not to be picky
