People need to remember that Ferguson is a member of what is an increasingly marginalized faction within Man United, along with Charlton and other ex-players. The other faction, which contains people actually responsible for decision making and negotiation like Woodward, want Mourinho.
Very true, he's in essence anointed the last two managers after him, and it hasn't worked out for him.

guys he isnt going
people reading loads into this which just isnt there
he said he is going to sign, he is hardly going to not sign now on the basis of one lunch, them having lunch makes it less likely imo as if there was something going on they would hardly be in london together
fergie has previous for tapping up, he doesnt do it in full view though

You're right. That day he picked Berbatov up from the airport before the City cab driver could find him, we didn't actually see any video footage until he was walking through that balcony inside Old Trafford.

New contract still not signed then?

Let's hope it's because Poch is stressing he wants signings in ASAP and the players he wants before signing it. It's the only time this summer he will have that type of leverage.
He doesn't need leverage.

Poch has already said he intends to sign a new contract with us - from what I have seen he appears to be a man of his word.

yep of course thats a similar example
a player who was leaving and refused to play and who had agreed a fee is exactly the same as a manager who only a week ago said he loves it here and has agreed a new contract

jeez mate he has said he is going to sign last week, everything has been agreed so i cant see why he is delaying it to gain leverage where as far as i can see everyone is on the same page already
he will sign im sure in the next few days

My understanding is that only the basics were agreed in principle. These contracts are extremely complicated and the clauses and small print is often very time consuming. Seems fairly obvious he'd want to wait until he had a clear head before diving head first into discussions.

The other point that has been raised regarding incomings... Our targets have been in place for a while now. We have a good team in place for identifying the players we want, but we also have a wage structure and budget in place. If anyone thinks we will over pay either a players wages, or transfer fee to appease a manager we wont! That said I very much suspect mercenary players making OTT demands are a million miles from the player type Poch wants anyway.

Fantastic news. Thanks for the update!

Wonder if Poch will announce it in his press conference which I think is today?
Normally the press conference for a Sunday game is Friday isn't it?
