They have a real attacking presence in Gomez obviously, and Salah has made them more fluid looking in attack, IMO, but they're weak defensively - specifically down the flanks as their full backs leave too much space. That was definitely a common theme I spotted when watching them.

When did UEFA change the rules? Always used to be that players who had played in the CL before the transfer window couldn't then play in the EL for another team.

I feel a AC Milan scenario again....draw at home and win it by the odd goal in Firenze..

As far as i'm aware they play a 352 formation, or maybe even a 3511 formation. !
Agree with your post. The only thing I can add is that in Europa League specifcially, they've deployed a classic 433 in several of the matches rather successfully. They perform with confidence in EL, and I'm of no doubt about this match being a fierce one. Why they don't utilise 433 more often in Serie A is beyond me. Montella has a fluid approach to formation, and I expect that he does not feel restricted in his options on White Hart Lane.
Spurs above all, but man am I glad that we finally drew Fiorentina!

Fiorentina are what I would call a `nice` side to play against, a bit like Swansea, can cause problems but ultimately beatable.

I'd be very happy if we could keep a clean sheet while scoring a couple of goals. From all intents and purposes while it seems they are a well organized team under "the little plane" it also appears their weaknesses are caused from their attacking full backs (sounds familiar?) being caught out of position.
Anyhow I'm looking forward to a good game with HarriKane scoring a brace.

Just been doing a bit of whoring on a Fiorentina forum, general consensus appears to be that it'll be

. 4-3-3
Richards - Savic - Gonzalo - Alonso
borja - Peq - mati
joaqin - gomez (babacar) - salah

Or

3-5-2
savic gonzalo basanta
joaquin - borja - peq - mati - pasqual
gomez (babacar) - salah

They are not confident of their defence, but reckon they'll easily put 2 past us

I've got a feeling we're going to be battered. This is a very good outfit

We pretty much have the same strengths and weaknesses so this is like one of those sci-fi episodes where you have to fight an evil alternate universe version of yourself. I'm saying 3-2.

Really could do with a two goal buffer after tonight with the cup final after the 2nd leg.
