As long as Davies is OK then it's been a good work out
We so need Ben for the Prem
A game we could have won, but we continue to do this playing out from the back. I think it's absolutely stupid, and Lloris especially isn't cut out for it. But it's not the players fault it's the orders they have to follow
Yes I know Conte is a great manager, but I have never liked this playing out from the back, and unless we get players who are better at it, never will
A key reason why we won't win the league, and probably no trophies at all, IMHO

Playing it out from the back breaks the lines and gives our attackers space to play in. It's the reason our front 3 were so effective last year under Conte. We weren't able to do it before Bentancur came along, as no one else in the midfield was good enough on the ball. We werent great at it today, partly because of who was playing, but we also werent that bad against a team who press like crazy. Once we've integrated Bissouma, Perisic, and possibly Lenglet and Spence we should be far more effective.

Kane and son will grab the headlines for the goal but bentacur makes such a difference.
Genuine ability on the ball that we didn’t have in midfield before he arrived. Skipp wins midfield battles with his reading of the game and athleticism and Hojbjerg is a Jack of all trades but you really need to have someone with this kind of ability on the ball at the top level as teams press so hard. Him and Bissouma are going to make an elite pairing

Just reinforced what we already know is our starting eleven.

Really need to see Bissouma, Perisic, Lenglet, and Spence to know what this team is capable of.

Although Dier is starting to look genuinely imperious at the back, think we may struggle to find better.

As long as Conte's our manager we'll play out from the back. It's integral to his entire system and how he's won league titles in the past.

He’s crucial. Rather than looking for a replacement though, I’d rather we found a young back up, who could also fill in on one side if needed.

Dier is fine as first choice, and if we can’t get someone better this summer, that’s not a major issue for me

Agreed. I love Dier, and im not one to b a fan of a specific player but he does look like a leader for us. It was never about replacing Dier but bringing someone in to perhaps try to give him a day off every now and again. I guess he will need to play all 38 next season plus the other games.

He's a totally different player in a back 3. In a back 4 he was always vulnerable to being turned or run at, but in a 3 he's facing the play the vast majority of the time with the other CBs ready to sweep up behind. It has completely baffled me why Mourinho and Nuno couldn't work this out and persisted with a back 4 that was continually full of mistakes always nervous. He's been brilliant in the middle of the 3.

It’s really impossible to judge anything on today considering the level of training that’s gone on. I think from now training will be geared much more like the season towards match day. This week was basically the real slog.

The kit isn't my favorite, but anything that doesn't fall into Man City's Tequila Sunrise territory is probably acceptable.

I wouldn’t neg this at all. Rather give you a ?.

To be that negative, pessimistic, and forlorn based on a friendly, during a week in which the team is far more focused on fitness, then tactical planning, is a rather sad conclusion. In fact, the whole tone is miserable. I don’t mean that in the critical sense. Just feel bad that is your reaction, even with all context in mind. So, for what it is worth, I am just gonna say that I respectfully disagree, and sending you lots of positive white light!

So is Lucas going to be our new attacking right wing back or wot?
No we already have Doherty and now Spence. We just didn't have Perisic or Spence so Doherty had to play a half on the left for cover and we needed someone to mix a half with Emerson.

This mate. I do not understand how people are having something to say about sloppy ness in the second preseason game.

These games are literally 100% about match fitness, I’m pretty sure Conte couldn’t give a toss about the score. All about those legs

wouldn’t be overly unheard of for them to have had a tough training session this morning.

Roma is probably the one game that we can read anything in to

Big plus for me is who sharp Bentancur looks already and same goes for Kane, he looks August Kane sharp already
