From what I saw, it was very competitive which exposed our lack of sharpness (to be expected in our 2nd pre-season game). Nothing more to read into than that - hopefully now the tour is finished and the most gruelling fitness drills are done we’ll see that match sharpness return.

Hojbjerg looked well off it though, and Doherty really should only be used on the right. Thought Lucas looked like an interesting option at RWB but with Spence arriving I can’t see him being needed in that role.

You don’t know what the players have done before the game or yesterday, the DOMs might be horrific it’s pre season, we don’t know what conte wants them to work on either.

I'm just gutted we haven't got to see Bissouma yet.

Hopefully next week against rangers as the man is a monster. Him and Bentancur going to be so good.

Emerson was quite good today - hope he gets more game time than Lucas though. In games where opponents press a lot, Emerson is far better option to have.

As long as Davies is OK then it's been a good work out
We so need Ben for the Prem
A game we could have won, but we continue to do this playing out from the back. I think it's absolutely stupid, and Lloris especially isn't cut out for it. But it's not the players fault it's the orders they have to follow
Yes I know Conte is a great manager, but I have never liked this playing out from the back, and unless we get players who are better at it, never will
A key reason why we won't win the league, and probably no trophies at all, IMHO

It's a friendly, nothing too serious but please let's open our eyes about Doherty. Not good enough in an attacking sense at all and doesn't press or defend very well either. A few okish games last season seems to have blinded some people, if one of him or Emerson should go, it better be Doherty.
100%. He's regularly being played at LWB which is evident to me that Conte prefers Emerson over Doherty.

Really good team to play in preseason the high pressing and aggressiveness from Sevilla were great.

Some good play out from the back, thought sess is growing into that lwb position. Spence will probably walk into the team.

Skipp and hoijberg were rusty, but I loved watching Skipp today, his aggression and desire were top class.

Sarr impressed me, he has a big future. Davinson showed good aggression and pressing but still looks like he doesn't belong in that lcb position.

Not much else to report on, judging by the minutes given to Gil, he'll be on loan next season. Massive difference in quality between him and Kuvuleski.

Davies injury a worry.

The thing that impressed me most about Dier today was how he stepped out of the defence to become the passing option. There were a few passing sequences where you thought we'd be boxed in and he'd just step forward into space and have the ball chipped in to him.

Midfield still our weakest area. We need that midfield controller/passer.
I'd be confident that Bissouma will be the controller, but watching Rakitic in the second half really highlighted to me that we would thrive with having someone that comfortable on the ball along with the ability to match it.

I know it’s early days in pre-season but Sanchez is nowhere good enough on the ball, Tanganga will not make the level with us, and Doherty at LWB does not work.

Just early in pre-season you have realised all of that?

Really disappointed in Conte for only giving Gil the best part of 15 minutes to impress after how good he was on Wednesday.

This is a pet peeve of mine. Players get all week in training to impress the coaches and managers. Matches are just a very small part of what managers are evaluating.

A couple things stand out in particular now though - Conte will have seen Bryan train for the better part of the past two weeks. Nothing Bryan can do in an extra 15-30 minutes will change that impression. And, we are now three weeks from the start of the season - Conte's job is to prepare the squad for the season - including getting match minutes into the legs of the players who need it.

While it may disappoint some, I am sure Conte already has the make up of his squad figured out, and so he is focused on getting those players up to speed.

I think Bryan is a talent - just not one who is in Conte's plans for this season - at least not in an important role. I figure Bryan has about another 2 weeks worth of training to make an impact, and if not, another year on loan, where he continues to develop and play every week will be good for Bryan and Spurs.

No, it’s just underlined what I’ve felt for over a year. Watching Sanchez panic and kick it out for a throw in after 15 secs showed he is not suited to Conte’s system.

Sanchez at RB is better than Sanchez at LB - hence we brought in Lenglet.

Doherty is better at RWB than Doherty at LWB - hence we brought in Perisic.

By most accounts, we are looking for a solution with Tanganga - not sure if it is tied to brining in the next CB.

I thought it was more that Doherty can do a better job than Emerson at left wing back without Perisic being fit?

He is better on the right than left which is only natural as he can move the ball away from goal with his right than when he is on his left and dwindling more on the ball. Im not saying he is perfect with the ball but ther eis a massive difference which I guess is why Conte wanted that LCB.

Im more concerned about what we do if Dier gets injured. We have cover on either side but nothing in the middle. Dier had to play 90 today which is pretty much evident of how important he is to us.

He’s crucial. Rather than looking for a replacement though, I’d rather we found a young back up, who could also fill in on one side if needed.

Dier is fine as first choice, and if we can’t get someone better this summer, that’s not a major issue for me
