Some seem to be projecting their inner doubts about MP onto Adebayor.
Get frustrated with Adebayor as much as you like, but he is not selecting himself over Kane.

Anyone know why it's an early kick-off? It's not on TV...

New premier league ruling this year means that all games have to kick off at the same time as the televised fixture. That's why we've kicked off at 1:30pm against QPR, West Brom and Newcastle without being on TV once.

Daft rule but there you go that's the Premier League for you.

Booth and Rasiak played to their limitations but gave 100% effort, so you are right, Ade is yet to meet that standard!

Is ade not giving 100% though? He looks to me like he is trying but looks so slow and lacking confidence.
I know he's only 30 but to me it looks like his legs have gone, like the brain is trying to do things the body can't.
I agree he must be dropped , though I doubt he will be this weekend

Can we kick off at 4?

Chelsea just re-signed Drogba. Age has nothing to do with it. Strikers go through patches of not scoring. It will happen to Harry Kane. He will go 6 games where he won't score and the creatures will crawl from the woodwork to say they knew all along or that he is clumsy or lazy or championship at best.
All that matters is the team performance. Some think Soldado is best for the team.
There is little or no evidence for that belief.
I think Ade is best for the team and there is plenty of evidence for that from previous seasons and in the one game this season when he and Harry teamed up from the start when we won 5-1.
I sincerely hope Harry and Ade start this game.

I can only recall Ade giving it 100% throughout a run of games for a couple of times in his Spurs career. When he first joined us under Harry, and when Tim recalled him into the team last season. I'm hoping he gets back into that kind of form, because he's boody good when he does, but right now he's well off the mark. Deserves to be dropped and given a cup run until he gets his form back. Only problem is that he doesn't take well to being dropped.

Absolutely this. I'd definitely drop him from the team for this week and not start him regularly until he showed signs of playing his way back into form through substitute and cup-game appearances, but an on-form Adebayor offers us more than either Soldado or Kane (who I'd be starting every week at the moment) does, so I don't know why people are so keen to ditch him forever.

That said, Kane is pissing on both Soldado and Adebayor at the moment, so the shirt should be his to lose until further notice.
Well, considering it is already November, Ade is playing horribly and he'll be with his national team for like 2 months again after the window, I'd say there is good reason why people would like him off permanantly in January and to bring in another striker in his place.

and good reason for other clubs not to sign him

I think he's demands will be very high and it will be very difficult to shift him - especially in Jan during ACN time

If Chelsea can get 8m for Ba then surely we can shift him on for around that figure.

I'm sure we could agree a fee with a club

I doubt a club could match his wage demands though - which was my main point

His stock is down, way down since the time we signed him and he had somewhat justified his wages during his loan spell. Even agreeing a fee with a club will be difficult if he's going to instantly spend 2 months on international duty

We'd more likely have to wait until Jan and even then I think we'll struggle to find a club he'll agree terms with - he seems perfectly happy to live in London picking up a fortune to me

Okay, let's take this bit by bit...first up: Ade in his time with us
Season 1: Motivated under Harry after being hung out to dry at City. 18 in 37.
Season 2: Unmotivated. Missed a few months due to ACN. 8 in 34
Season 3: Relegated to the youth squad by AVB. Brought back into the team by Sherwood. Motivated to show up AVB. 14 in 25.
Season 4. Unmotivated. Handed the job immediately and handed a leadership role. 2 in 11 so far.
Evidence proves that when motivated, he is one of the best strikers in the game and about 1 in 2. When not motivated, he is about 1 in 4 and contributes little else to the team. Evidence also proves it takes being left out of the team for a while to motivate him.

Next up: The 5-1 win.
A) It was vs Asteras Tripolis.
B) He did nothing that game besides holding a defender who cleared the ball very poorly giving Lamela the rabona. He was offsides like 4 or 5 times and subbed off when we were up 3-1.
C) That win was because of Harry Kane and Erik Lamela.
I struggle to see how you are using this game in your argument.

Harry Kane should start tomorrow. Ade should not be included in the 18.

Lloris
Naughton Fazio Vertonghen Davies
Stambouli Mason
Lamela Soldado Chadli or Lamela Chadli Townsend
Kane

Vorm, Dier, Paulinho, Eriksen, Dembele, Ceballos, Townsend/Soldado

Luckily, there are some leagues who start their seasons in Feb/March. Even luckier, one of the leagues has 2 new teams who I am sure would love to make another splash signing for their inaugural seasons. One of the teams has an ownership crew that spends, spends, and spends. And even though that league has a salary cap, the league has a history of bending rules if it means bringing a star player over and has a history of making up rules as it goes along. The way I see it, the stars should be alligning for a shocking return to the sheikh's grasp but this time to his newest venture, NYCFC.

Is Adebayor a big enough name for the MLS?

I mean obviously he's a high profile striker from one of the top leagues in Europa and likely to be one of the better players in the league if he went there but I mean would he be seen as a true major star like say Henry was when he went out there and as such would owners be willing to splash the cash on him and bend rules to pay his demands

I'm not sure if he would want to go to MLS at this stage of his career either

I think our main problem is overconfidence. it happened against newcastle, it happened against asteras, it happened against villa. before that we were looking good. i dont know why we've started to think that we're too big for our britches and can relax. hopefully we're back to the southampton and city form tomorrow.

‘I think we’re not weak but I didn’t hear this. I think we think differently about this,’ said Dembele. ‘Every team has some weaknesses and we have our own things to think about.

‘We need to be ready quicker, from the first minute. We did it in the first half and then in the second half we didn’t expect them (Asteras) to come at us.

‘We were too relaxed and this cannot happen again. We need to speak about it.

‘Personally there are some reasons why in the second half we didn’t do so well but we will talk with the team about it. A lot of people have their opinion so we will talk internally.

‘We were surprised by them. It can’t happen again because we could have ended up drawing or losing.

‘We need to learn that even when we’re 2-0 up it’s not over yet. That’s the lesson.’
