HALF-TIME - Tottenham 0-0 Swansea
It is still goalless at White Hart Lane, although Tottenham fans are probably wondering how they are not ahead. Spurs have had an absolute stack of chances - most of them involving Paulinho.
17:14 GOAL - Tottenham 1-0 Swansea - Roberto Soldado (pen)
Spurs should have had a penalty in the first half when Jonjo Shelvey fouled Andros Townsend inside the box... This time they get one, and the same two players are involved. Roberto Soldado steps up to send Michel Vorm the wrong way and Tottenham have the lead their attacking play has deserved.

Tottenham and Swansea head into their Sunday showdown at White Hart Lane on the back of impressive Europa League wins.
Spurs proved there may be life after Gareth Bale as Andros Townsend inspired Andre Villas-Boas' side to a 5-0 rout of Dinamo Tbilisi.
Meanwhile, Swansea swept aside Romanian cup holders Petrolul Ploiesti 5-1 at the Liberty Stadium.
Bale sat out the play-off first leg in Georgia as he edged closer to a world-record move to Real Madrid, although Villas-Boas has denied claims a deal is done.
They head into their first home game of the season on the back of an opening day win at Premier League newcomers Crystal Palace.
And they expect to have Jan Vertonghen and Aaron Lennon back in the side after being rested for the midweek trip.
Swansea suffered a 4-1 humbling at the hands of reigning champions Manchester United at the Liberty Stadium last time out, but recovered from it in style on Thursday night.
They face a tough task of beating Spurs on their own ground though as the north Londoners have won nine and lost just one of their last 13 Premier League home games.

Tottenham
Jan Vertonghen and Aaron Lennon are both expected to be ready to face Swansea after being rested for the trip to Georgia.
Belgium international Vertonghen returned to action in the opening day win at Palace after the best part of four weeks out with an ankle injury.
Meanwhile, England winger Lennon, who made a substitute appearance at Selhurst Park, is expected to play a role despite experiencing pain in his foot.
Paulinho and Roberto Soldado, who both scored against Tbilisi, are expected to keep their places, while winger Andros Townsend is pushing for a starting role after an impressive display.

Swansea
Swansea boss Michael Laudrup is expected to tinker with his team for the trip to White Hart Lane.
Left-back Ben Davies may return after missing out against Petrolul Ploiesti in the Europa League through injury.
Meanwhile, Jonathan de Guzman's return from concussion means he may be in line for a start in midfield.
Nathan Dyer looks set to miss out again with a hamstring injury, but Jordi Amat and Jose Canas may come into contention for starting berths as Laudrup looks to manage the demands of domestic and European campaigns.

Tottenham hope to have Aaron Lennon and Jan Vertonghen back after they missed the Europa League clash with Dinamo Tbilisi on Thursday.

Emmanuel Adebayor and Lewis Holtby remain on the sidelines, and Gareth Bale's sale to Real Madrid is imminent.

Swansea's Nathan Dyer will again be missing because of the hamstring injury he sustained against Manchester United.

Ben Davies could come back in to the side after sitting out the Europa League tie with Petrolul Ploiesti.

Tottenham have never lost at home to Swansea in the league and on the evidence of the opening day's fixtures they'll maintain that proud record with ease.

Chairman Daniel Levy has astutely gone about his business once it became clear that Gareth Bale wanted to go to Real Madrid. He's softened the blow for fans by bringing in exciting new players before the actual departure of the Welsh wizard.

Roberto Soldado followed in the footsteps of Tottenham legends Clive Allen, Jermain Defoe, Jimmy Greaves, Martin Peters, Ricky Villa and John White by scoring on his debut. He's banged in 16 in his last 14 games for club and country and will trouble a Swansea defence that caved in against Manchester United.

Nacer Chadli can be a bag of tricks down the wing. Paulinho is a giant box-to-box midfield athlete, although he didn't hit his Confederations Cup highs on his Spurs debut, and Etienne Capoue is a solid central midfielder.

The return of Danny Rose gives them more pace at left back and, with more signings to come, Tottenham's season looks full of promise. For me, it's only a matter of time before they start genuinely challenging for the title even without Bale.

Like so many sides before them, Swansea's league form has dipped since winning the League Cup with just two victories from 12 Premier outings.

Although that's relegation form, I can't see them having any real trouble as long as they hold to Ashley Williams and Michu. The Welshman is the only really composed centre-back in their ranks and the Spaniard can only benefit from the arrival of the battleship Bony up front.

European football will be an exciting distraction, but they must get early league points on the board.

I can't see them returning with anything from the Lane though. Tottenham's squad is big enough to deal with two big games in four days. Swansea's resources will be stretched thinner.

Head-to-head
  • Swansea have never won a league match at White Hart Lane in 15 attempts, losing 13 and drawing two.
  • Swansea last beat Tottenham in the league in October 1982, a 2-0 victory at Vetch Field.
  • They have only met eight times in the top flight. Spurs have won five and Swansea two,
Tottenham
  • Tottenham have lost just two Premier League matches since 9 December 2012. Those defeats came in back-to-back matches against Liverpool and Fulham in March.
  • Roberto Soldado's goal against Crystal Palace means he has now scored 11 goals in his last nine league matches.
  • The penalty he scored against Palace was the first Tottenham had been awarded in the league since 6 May 2012.
  • Against Palace, Spurs became the first team to field three Belgians in a Premier League starting line-up. One of those players, Jan Vertonghen, scored in both matches against Swansea last season.
Swansea
  • The Swans' 4-1 defeat to Manchester United on the opening day was the most goals they had conceded at home in a Premier League match.
  • In six away league matches in London last season, Swansea won three and lost three.
  • Only Aston Villa (two) had fewer league goals scored by a substitute than Swansea (three) last season. The Swans' only goal of this season so far came from a substitute, Wilfried Bony.

I expect a really good game on Sunday. Would be great for neutrals to watch had it been selected for TV. Swansea are a really good passing side, and won't be easy. Their confidence is up, but so is ours. Tight game to call, but should be winning it in the end.

As impressive as we were against Dinamo Tblisi, Swansea were equally as good against Petrolul albeit at home. They played some lovely football and apart from the spectacular overhead volley for Petrolul's goal were under less pressure defensively than we were.

I hope Townsend gets a start (he deserves it after Thursday's performance). I think we'll struggle to keep a clean sheet so may have to score 2 or 3 to get the win. Don't be misled by Swansea's opening 1-4 home defeat by Man Utd, they were the better side for much of the match. I still think we'll have too much for them at the Lane but it will be a real test of how we have progressed as a team. A good win here and I really rate our chances in the premiership this season.

Looking forward to a really open and attacking game of football. Hopefully there will be a few goals and it will be a decent spectacle for both fans and neutrals. Don't get me wrong - it won't be an easy game due to Swanseas excellent passing style but I believe we will have a bit too much for them. :)

The Swans will be all men behind the ball when they play away - they are capable of good football but I suspect this will be another case of us straining to break a team down who have come to defend and perform a 'smash n grab'! Dangerous oppo for us but WE ARE STRONG!

IMO... big big match for us. we need the 3 point, tough few days for the team... Missing out on Willian, and Bale apparent arrival in Madrid in a few days time... Things not really going our way off the field. but its on the field that counts.

we need the 3 points tomorrow. nothing but a win will do.

COYS!

Bit early in the season for all this "must win" bollocks isn't it?

Will be very interesting to see how we play. I thought we were good at the start of the Espanyol match, didn't see the second half but we need that same sort of urgency and fast pace to our play.

We were so bad so many times at WHL last season, i hope we've addressed that.
