A very very poor performance - Ade, Eriksen, Lamela, Paulinho - everyone was bad. Dembele and Chiriches were aweful. What is a disappointing is that it seems so obvious what the solution for variety should be - pace, clear pace. Every single team defends deep and central because they know that is our only threat.

I can understand Poch's dilemma to a certain extent, who of Chadli, Ericksen or Lamela does he replace. For me, its the formation that has to get sorted - 4-2-3-1. The 2 defensive midfielders - the one pure defensive (Capoue) and the ticker (Dembele) both don't do a proper job. So then make it a 4-4-2 with one holding (Capoue), Eriksen the deep lying playmaker, Lamela cutting in in one flank, Lennon or someone pacey on the other, with Soldado/Chadli behind Ade and moving to create space.

Come on Poch. Get it sorted.

Bad day at the office, every team has them.
Man City 0 Stoke 1 see it happens.
I knew these days would happen and the team gets panned, rightly so, it was awful.
The season is long though and there will be other upsets, that's why the EPL is considered the most entertaining league.
I have faith in MP and judgement comes in May not September.
Ummm` have you actually had a look at todays match stats though. I think you`ll find it suggests more than a one off freak result

Daniel Levy, get out of my club

WTF, fans? What's sacking a manager got to do with fans?
I do have major issues with the owners too.

But come on, you can't be oblivious to the fact that a large amount of fans simply do not understand patience ? There were posts doubting Pochettino on here in his second game in charge. The boos at the end of the day will be louder than the people that continue to support and have faith.

I'm sure there's a thread in the general football forum where you can talk about that if you wish

We've just played a game and this is the match thread - of course we as fans are going to want to discuss our match here and not Utd
Oh surely you did not think I was being serious.

I think the team is fine, apart from needing a good striker since Berbatov left. Soldado misfired last season, but I can't see why he isn't starting when fit ahead of Adebayor.
I'm not going to start slagging off players or looking for scapegoats but I feel Soldado offers so much more intelligence up front than Adebayor, who hasn't looked like being dangerous to defences at all this season, let alone scoring.

Kane and Soldado must be scratching their heads in disbelief sitting on the bench every week behind Adebayor... If it isn't working for him then give someone else a run.

yea it does happen we do it a lot and man city lost to stoke but then the next 5 they will probably win them we will probably have 2 draws another result like today and win one game and think were gonna win the league over that one game, something is going wrong at our club ever since harry left(not saying i like him) but something needs to be done were making profit every year not getting the players our managers want and just getting players who are not at the level i want our players to be at and cant see them getting there

Booing your players is NEVER right disagree they fucking pay to see them and they had 1 fucking shot on target
Well, if you're the same Bloodzeed who hawks illegal streams, I'm not entirely surprised your view of football is money orientated and what value you get out of it. But seriously, what is the harm in keeping the moaning and booing until after you get out of the stadium?

I think people under estimate the impact a negative crowd has on players, and indeed the impact a positive one can have. Again, football isn't like going to the opera. You aren't promised a good performance...and I find it very difficult to stomach the attitude that a ticket price owes you a great performance in sport. When you buy a ticket for any sport you do it on the basis that the team or person you support might have a bad day. If people buy tickets and don't realise that then I think they don't understand sport at all. Last season AVB bemoaned the fact that the crowd was not helping. Similarly ina game last year or the year before one of our player (i forget who) mentioned how the crowd lifted them after a good result. It think it was Defoe after a Europa game that 1882 (who I support and attend) had been singing at. So it's bullshit for anyone to claim that the crowd doesn't change things.

Fine, you want your money's worth. But if that's what you want then don't cry foul when your lack of support is called into question.

MoPo 100% to blame for this defeat. Brendan seen he got it wrong and changed the sytstem early yesterday and got 'Pool back in the game. We were never in the game today. MoPo sat on his hands again. He picked the wrong team, wrong subs and sat and watched as the car crashed in slow motion when he was sat behind the wheel and did not put the brakes on.

Er, you do realise the magical Brenton and his amazing team lost to West effing Ham yesterday!

Poch I hope will come good but I am amazed that he made Kaboul captain when for most of us the verdict is out on his ability still to play at the highest level. Then Ade as a vice-captain? Seems like very dodgy leadership to me
Levy...

I don't think pooch is picking the team or at least has 100% input.

Why did Ade start in teh PL, despite Soldado playing really really well in pre-season...

There is a reason why Pooch is called a coach and not manager.

Nothing to do with Spurs but a great performance by Lescott at the back, he was like a rock. I know he's past his peak but great signing for them. Part of me thinks we may have missed out on a good player there for free but let's see how the rest of his season pans out first

Another thing, Dembele is useless. He's a pointless player. Everyone is always amazed how strong he is and how he gets out of tight situations with some cool turn, but the only reason why he gets into tight situations is because he dwells on the ball for way too long. He gets closed down, then so do his team mates, which more often than not forces backwards or sideways passing...

Manager reaction
Tottenham 0-1 West Brom

Posted at15:43

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino:

"I'm disappointed and angry. I think we had a very bad day.

"We played very, very slow. We need to be more alive and play quick. We didn't create too much. We made a big mistake on the set-piece."

Always funny when the negative posters are just labeled "knee jerkers".

Even if you consider we are early into a 5 year project with poch, I think most of us have seen enough of our players under a succession of managers to know that some things need changing.

Main thing that need changing is both Ade and Soldado. On his day Ade is one of the best strikers around but his day isn't often enough and when not on it he is useless. Considering he is our "best" striker, thats not enough anymore.

Bobby sol will never make it in the PL. It's a shame but plenty better have tried and failed and many more will. Time to cash out.

Think that should be a wake up call not just for team but for the fans. Especially the ones who think its our god given right to smash everyone who is in bottom half.

Just pure arrogance, and not realistic in the slightest. Our fans becoming just as arrogant some other teams and can see why we are hated.
I agree with a lot of your post. People were talking about winning 4-1 etc. The days of promoted teams coming out all guns blazing are long over. We will face 2 banks of 4 all season long from the bottom half teams and judging by MoPo's selections and tactics today we will not have a clue what to do about it.

I disagree, its easy to have an opinion like this when we are playing shit. AVB was tactically clueless too lets face it. Name the last Spurs manager that was tactically spot on?
It will get better I'm sure of it, it really hurts at the moment though. The players are to blame here not the manager.
exactly what part of this do you disagree with spursdick?

Hopefully reality has hit home for some of you.

We are average (that's being kind)

The players that some of you really rate (Lamela) aren't good enough for this league.

Neg rep away but you know I'm right deep down.

Shocking atmosphere today. This is what ENIC have created.

Fuck off ENIC
I Lamela needs more time, this is his first season really, after last seasons injuries.

Agree with the rest though

Do you think they'll play better for it next time...

Or maybe that little bit of fear will grow each time the boos/groans come, then they'll do things a bit simpler next time, until it's sideways pass followed by no you shoot, no back to you to shoot.

My take was always if they'd given their all i'll give em a clap, if not i leave in silence.
I wouldn't boo either, but in not going to slag off the fans that do
