Michey can you not admit that you're wrong about JJ?

He may not be bloody Gerrard, but he is a very important play for us. It showed last season when we were languishing without him and it showed this season in our best performances.

It will never happen since i think he's extremely overrated and just a waste of space.

But you're free to think that he's a great player...we're just having different opinion on what a good footballplayer is.

The Hudd has a footballing brain, JJ and Zokora are just athletes.

You're correct on this one but in Jenas case....he's a weak athlete...more of a distancerunner.

Out of interest, do you rate Zokora?

So thats the role of a midfielder in your opinion?

What about breaking up play, what about supporting the strikers? The Hudd doesnt offer those skills does he?

Fact is, the fans are split on this. For me, JJ is the key man in midfield, The Hudd when on form can be very decent, but Zokora is the weak link and should be sold in the summer.

I'm not disagreeing with you but I would think that being able to pass is up there with the qualities you mentioned. If you can pass then you are already supporting your strikers because they thrive on great passes. Haven't you wondered why the assists are dominated by our strikers and contribution from our midfielders are negligible. Keano and Berbs have great movement so if we have a creative playmaker then we can maximise their abilities and reduce their need to drop back to midfield when they should be up front finishing moves instead of starting them.

If you look at my first post in the thread, I said the same things as you said. I just think that neither Zok and JJ should play together because having them around means we are more likely to see Robbo and Daws hoofing the ball up than if Thudd was playing with either of them.

I just don't get you at all. You never miss an opportunity to slate him, and our worst performances are generally when he doesn't play. It's seems like more of a personal vendetta really.

Everything you say is shit about Jenas, applies to every midfielder in our team. Then when you say he's a waste of space, that doesn't apply to him because he scores plenty and provides a much-needed link between our midfield and attack.

:clap::clap::clap:

and dont forget that he is also very importantly for helping out the defence. One minute he is getting on the end of an attacking cross, next minute he's making a tackle on the edge of our box.

No vendetta. It just makes me surprised that a player with his qualities can be so highly rated.

I actually raised him to the sky after our game against Man City in the League Cup when he did an awsome job as DM when we played 10 against 11. But that's the thing with Jenas.....if you're lucky you get 5-6 good games from him every season.

But he isnt a creative midfielder - why is there this myth that he is?
He's our box to box midfielder, and a very decent one at that.

Yup. And that's the crux of it. If Ramos follows his Sevilla blueprint with a compact CM and attacking down the flanks with both FBs and wide midfielders, then he won't want a box-to-box CM. And the big change to JJ under Ramos has been much greater discipline, picking and choosing his forward runs much more intelligently.

But JJ has been in poor form for the last couple of games, and for me, the reason that Hud has been picked ahead of JJ recently is precisely because he's a better passer and more creative player next to the out-and-out holding CM in Zokora.

Can JJ adapt his game and become a Ramos CM? I still think JJ has a chance. But if Sven (a long-time fan of JJ) offers £10 million, I suspect Ramos may recommend accepting it and investing the cash in his kind of CM.

The title of the thread says it all really. If JJ had played instead of the Hudd and we still lost, there'd be a thread entitled 'we really missed the Hudd today'.

You have to look at it over the season. I would say JJ had been slightly more consistant than the Hudd, however when the Hudd is on form he looks a class above. And he's still so young that if he can develop some consistancy and play like that week in week out we could have a hell of a player on our hands. Obviously he has his limitations ie his lack of pace, but alot of world class players do and they learn to play to their strengths. My biggest gripe with JJ is that I dont think he has the mentality to ever really take his game to another level. He can run all day long but then when he gets to the ball he doesn't know what to do with it. I've seen him lose the ball so many times because he's half asleep and taken too long to make up his mind where he wants to put it.

.

not from me there wouldn't have been :) - I'm a pro JJ campaigner - I leave others to champion the Hudd

obviously there are aspects to Hudd's game that are superior to JJ - but overall I prefer JJ -

I get what you are saying about the blueprint that Ramos used in Spain and you are right we don't have the players for that system.I believe that in this country if you want to be successful then 4-3-3 is the way forward and I think Ramos accepts this!

nudger posted this on FTL in the early hours of today....

Jenas back to Newcastle

Apparently agreed after the game sunday.

During the half time against chelsea something happened with jenas and hudd at half time, hudd had made a complaint againt jenas..ramos told him to pack his things and all hell broke loose completely destroyed team spirit...ramos blames jenas for sunday as he is well pissssed off

Jenas will go there and we will get nzogbia in exchange..

Later in the same thread Robbie posts:

I saw them in Pizza Express in Loughton after the Pompey game and they were getting on fine and dandy, me thinks this is bullshit

'Them' being Hudd, JJ and Hutton.

So what is believable? That JJ would go back to Newcastle? That Tom is back on the pizzas? That we want N'Zogbia?

I'm going for 'none of the above'.

fascinating stuff BOF - I find it hard to believe our best mid would be going back to Toon - time will tell etc

it wouldn't surprise me if something untoward happened at ht v CFC

I think we'll know a lot more after the Blackburn game - apparetnly JJ is ill ATM - if he reappears at Ewod - I think all's well and dandy re JJ staying - if he doesn't then of course the rumours will strengthen
