any other season i would see this as three points in the bag. because of the freak results last year I am now nervous. we need to get back to winning ways against these plebs. Pokeyman to get the season off in style and soldado to get a hatrick. Thank you.

Think Poch will risk Vert for this.

Don't think Ade will start mind you.

Reckon it could be:

Lloris

Naughton
Kaboul
Vertonghen
Rose

Capoue
Bentaleb

Lamela
Eriksen
Lennon

Soldado

Harsh on Lewis, but it may take Poch some time figuring out how best to use him.

That side has a pretty good defensive base and that front four interchanged superbly first half against Toronto.

A pretty safe bet and certainly a good enough side to win.
No better way to figure out how to use Lewis than by playing him. He was very good in pre-season, the Poch high pressing game suits him and he's a better player in possession than Bentaleb. I am going for:

Lloris

Naughton
Kaboul
Vertonghen
Davies

Capoue
Holtby

Lamela
Eriksen
Lennon

Soldado

I reckon Ade is first choice in attack but also doubt he is fully match fit, hence the Soldado option.

Normally buzzing for the start season - but I am still hurting from last Season. Looking at the line up - nothing convinces me that this team is going to set the season alight. I have this resentment for Spammers, but they are going to be well fired up, as for our lot - I really am not convinced. Hate to say it, but I see nothing but a defeat - As for ugly Sam, his ugly way of playing is going to win it for them.

I also think that including Soldado from the start of the first match may be a way to try an boost his confidence right away, rather than him feeling he is second to Ade, left wondering if he'll get his chance. With so few strikers, the key will be to keep both happy, healthy and hungry. Starting Soldado is a way to do that tomorrow.

Let's see if you feel the same when (if) we're a goal down. As for the tears, that's not love, that's the alcohol

I'd still love the club with a passion, alcohol maybe enhancing the willingness to express the emotion but the love will remain when the alcohol disapates.

Anyway, I'm on my way to Starbucks to take the edge off

The last few seasons broke any remaining traces of optimism I have about Spurs, so I know where you're coming from. Having said that, I feel quite relaxed about football in general now, and I'm looking forward to both watching Spurs without the added pressure of expectation, and tomorrow's annual 3PM Saturday match.

Spurger, trust me if we do lose tomorrow ( touch wood we don't) you will not be relaxed. You will be annoyed and pissed off like the rest of us. How any spurs fan can say they are "relaxed" is talking crap. Deep down you as all of us are right pumped up and desperately want to win tomorrow. Anything but a win tomorrow and I will be pissed off. I don't even think a draw is good enough. We should be beating shit like westham despite it being a London derby. Come on you spurs!!!

Or looking at it the other way, benching Adebayor may demotivate him... And I know who I would rather keep happy. If he's fit then he deserves first crack at it.

I think you're underestimating just how much I've been worn down by the last few seasons. I've learnt my lesson. As soon as things start looking exciting we'll find a new and torturous way of 'doing a Spurs'.

The worst thing about last season was realising just how immune I'd become to it all. Not so long ago a thrashing by Chelsea would have left me pissed off for days...instead I just shrugged and smiled wryly at Sherwood's post-match meltdown.

Lamela could score a hat-trick tomorrow and one of the first thoughts that will spring to mind will be "hmmm, I wonder how much Levy will sell him for in one or two seasons from now".

Having said all that, maybe I just need a bit of time to recover from the soporific nightmare of AVB's turtle-football, and Sherwood's amateur hour in the spotlight.

He had a good pre season for sure, but in the second half against Toronto, playing in the 'two'...we were all over the shop because of it.
