The quenelle is anti-Semitic it is not Nazi though, it is Zionist conspiracy based crap not advocating genocide. It also became massively popular in France through people who didn't really understand its significance. It just kind of followed and really was enacted by people who saw it as just anti-establishment. BAE has said that he did not think the quenelle was anti-Semitic at the time and has said he wouldn't of made his statement supporting Anelka if he thought/knew it could be interpreted as such. While this was not really an apology I think one should I've him the benefit of doubt here. He wouldn't be the only one to have not really examined the quenelle's meaning.
Also there is a big difference between anti-Zionism and antisemitism the quenelle is antisemitic because the logic of the creator is veiling his antisemitism through anti-zionism. Furthermore, he is not addressing any of the questions that emerge from zionism (for example is Zionism compatible with the rights of populations contemporary existing in the land, and if not why should a certain group of people get priority over another?) he is just using the word to support his warped views.
Lastly I was fully in support for BAE losin it in the world cup, in the sense I'd of done the same. He was absolutely right, the player infront of him disregarded previously agreed tactics, after running into the opposition failed for the 20103 time and showed that player cared more for his own personal glory than the good of the team. I'd of flipped.
