Funny how people say Ameilia is different class. Nobody had ever mentioned him on here until about a mo0nth ago when some ITK revealed his name.

Just how much of him have you seen?

why the hell have we not played any of our other keepers?

Alnwick is loaned out and I'd guess from that not ready yet.

Forecast is an academy graduate who's developed better than expected, but I can't see how he would be good enough.

All of our other keepers are much too young.

I've seen a fair bit of him and while he is a good keeper he isn't outstanding. He is backup to Buffon for Italy by default because there is nobody else. The other keeper in the Italian national squad is Cerci who is reserve keeper for Roma and never plays.

He is solid enough and makes some good saves. He doesn't have the dominating physical presence of a Gomes or a James, but he is less crazy. He is solid, but people claiming he is the natural successor to Buffon is pushing it...a lot. I doubt Amelia will ever get anywhere near the level of Buffon.

Ameilia was heavily linked with us in January:

"One of the best goalies of the new Italian generation, Marco Amelia (25), declares to "Gazzetta dello sport" to have received "an interesting offer from Tottenham". Amelia has been near more than once to leave Livorno and this summer could be the right one: the goalkeeper, after the European championships, will give himself to a foreign adventure."

Serie A is the 3rd most popular league in the world and probably the best keeper around that is gettable by us.

:-| Um Buffon? Best keeper I have ever seen live by absolutely miles.

Saw Amelia at Easter time. Not quite sure how they can be compared?

Yes. For all the raving about Kameni, he was quite the best keeper on view at the ACN. Pulled off some great saves, organised his defence superbly, looked as safe as just about anyone I've seen. Hard to believe he's gone to Sion.

Two new keepers and a top rate coach for me. Not to mention another quality CD and defensive midfield!

I agree with the point that Robbo has to go elsewhere and rebuild his confidence.

sion is just bridge for another big club...rumors strongly linked El Hadary with a move to the french giant "Lyon" next season

Gomes from PSV was very impressive.

Have a look at the stats for all teams since the Premiership started and you will see that 4th and 3rd place (Liverpool & Chelsea if I recall correctly) averaging over 60 goals per season while only conceeding circa 40 goals per season.

Spurs average over 50 per season for and against.

On this basis we are finally scoring enough to be a top four side but perhaps one of the worst on the defensive side.

Surely a world class goalie would be worth spending £20 million. Team one up with a fit King and Woodgate and the defense would be sorted it not one of the best.

Spurs yet a again linked to Samir Handanovic. Just recently the same paper, Daily Mail, claimed Spurs had basically wrapped up a deal with Kameni, and before that Amelia and...never mind.

Spurs set to bid for giant keeper Handanovic as Comolli takes a trip to Italy

Damien Comolli's appearance in Genoa last weekend has sparked fresh rumours that Spurs are chasing giant keeper Samir Handanovic. The Frenchman was among the crowd at the Sampdoria v Udinese match and sources have indicated that the 6ft 4in Slovenian is the man the club's director of football was watching.

It is not the first time that Spurs have scouted the big man from Udine. He has been on the radar for some time but, having recently agreed a new, long-term deal, the 23-year-old will not come on the cheap.
Handanovic is contracted to the northern Italian club until the summer of 2012 - which means Daniel Levy will have to dig deep if he is to find a new number one.
However, Comolli's watching brief almost certainly means the end for England international Paul Robinson. His future has been the subject of speculation for some time and Handanovic's purchase will be offset by the cash received for Robinson who will not stay and fight for his place should the man from Ljubljana eventually turn up at White Hart Lane

I'm praying this is just the Mail talking crap again. As an Udi follower I would be quite frankly horrified by this signing. Handanovic is dodgy! He panics all the time. Everytime there is a pass back I have to close my eyes because anything could happen. When someone comes into the box or beats one of his defenders he looks like he has seen a ghost.

Seriously if Comolli was at the game on Sunday and he has any serious interest in any Udi players I would be shocked. With a place in Europe on the line, they all completely choked. Was a shocking match and a dreadful performance. Even Inler had a poor game. Samp were decent enough, but it was far far too easy for them.

From what IOMLS has said about Handanovic, Robbo would be very well advised to stick around.

EDIT: Speak of the devil!
