I know, Paul Robinson is still at the club and i'm not saying that we should get another in this position. However as rumours have arised regarding this position and we all know how some react to Kameni, Skelenburg and recently Gomes.
However i'm going to play scout a little here. It's hard to imagine how the names of 2 goalkeepers from Mexico dont get mentioned around.
But whenever i get the chance to see football friendlies on tv or so, i've been impressed with Osvaldo Sanchez and Francisco Ochoa.

Sanchez could probably come into the side for a season since i think he is about 34 and get Robinson under his wing. But Ochoa is impressive, only in his early 20s he received a nomination for the Ballon d'Or something quite specatular since he's playing for a north american side.

If you had read the Kameni link you would see two youtube clips of Guillermo Ochoa - though I would never, of course, base a purschase on youtube videos. He plays for Club America, and those fans would be mad if you told them their club is from North America

I think it would be worth having a look at Russians Igor Akinfeev and Valdimir Gabulov.

Others that may do well at Spurs amongst "realistic" targets could be: Brazilian Diego Alves (Almeria), Germans Manuel Neuer and Rene Adler, Carlo Cudicini, Marco Amelia, Diego Lopez, Maarten Stekelenburg, Bent Foster, Chris Kirkland...

I would go for kameni, great against barca last night, relatively cheap 4m. Young, athletic and every piece to be a great keeper...

I really rate Kirkland. I honestly think now he is injury free he can become one of the best keepers around and a dead cert to be England no.1

Kirkland is another over rated English goal keeper - imo not good enough.

Does anyone want to actually keep Robbo? I think being dropped in January was the kick up the arse he's need for well over a year and I think he's come back a far better player, even being as good as when he first signed for us. I'd like to see him stay.

I dont think he's anywhere near as good as he was when he first arrived. He does still make some good saves but is so poor on crosses, set pieces & shots from distance & has looked poor for a good 18 months now.

I'd like to see us sign Gomes from PSV. Sure he looks a bit erratic but does look a vey good goalkeeper from what i've seen of him.

I've been firmly entenched in the pro Robbo camp until very recently but just think he needs to go off and get a fresh start now. He just doesn't inspire me anymore and I have no confidence we're gonna keep a clean sheet with him goal anymore.

I'd be happy to see Gomes from PSC, Kameni from Espanyol or McGregor from Rangers as a dark horse signing!

Probably Gomes just edges it though as losing Kameni to African Cup of Nations every other season could severley screw us unless we get in a very good No. 2 / rival goalkeeper!

I hope he stays as well. Bring in another keeper to be No.1 for the start of next season and see if Robbo can get it back.

But what we need to do is bring in a top goalkeeping coach.

And yet you appear to want someone who deals safely with crosses?

It doesn't really matter who when bring in because in keeping with our recent tradition we will successfully ruin any keeper that arrives after his first season :-|

Hence the previous poster's excellent point of fact that a top goalkeeping coach is as desirable as our wish for a decent keeper. The two factors inevitably go hand in hand.

Yet there have only be about 3 or 4 poster in Spurs Chat that seem to be bothered by the fact we haven't had a first team goalkeeping coach since October. I have mentioned it several times and each time the response has been the same that it doesn't matter.

Totally agree with you guys, we need a good goalie coach more than a good new first team goalie I'd say. Robinson might never get back to where he was, but if we buy a new keeper who continues with the academy coach giving him the odd session he's not going to last long either.

I've been watching him over the past two weeks and if not no.1 one keeper I would get get Al Habsi from Bolton as back-up or even no.1 if Bolton go down.
