It's a difficult one for me. I look back to three years ago and reminisce over how the team was full of characters and classy footballers - King, Bale, Modric, VDV - I loved them all. It's the first time in a long while I don't particularly feel a connection with the players, however your Eriksens, Lamelas, Soldados and Vertonghens need to step up and under Poch it's a fresh start for everybody. I feel we must avoid defeat at Upton Park, and get an early win at the Lane, then things start to look a little differently.
Thanks, you've set me off again

Am I excited?
Depends who is still here come the start of the season. I want to see all our new signings from last year flourish this season.

Seriously though, not sure I am excited at this stage but I am expectant. I want to see some progress. Tough decisions that need to be made get made, some cohesive, balanced, joined-up tactics and players improving their game.

I am excited in spite of myself.

We will be going into next season with much the same squad as last, and if two managers could not get performances out of them, it is difficult to get enthusiastic about the prospects under a third. Our squad needs surgery, and that is not going to happen under a manager who is yet to get his feet under the table, not with Levy keeping a tight hold on his wallet. We have good players, but too many have lost their way, and are not fulfillng their potential. More generally, there is a lack of leadership and of mental toughness, while our defence has been a shambles, our midfield are ponderous at best, and it is difficult to see where the goals are going to come from. I also need to be convinced that Poch's tactical blueprint will deliver against parked bus defences, or that he is able and willing to depart from it when needed.

But being posiitve, and I usually am, last seasons signings have had year to settle, we have some exciting young talents at the club, and Poch is a manager with a reputation for bringing youth through and improving players; also for playing attractive football. Furthermore Poch is unlikely to let the early stages of Europa become a distraction, which should help our early season form.

Needless to say, we will not come close to winning the the Premiership, but if all goes well, and a couple of clubs slip up, we might just possibly finish top four. And while I can't see us having sufficient blood and thunder to progress in the domestic cups, Europa might become exciting.

Come on you Spurs!

I'm excited at the start of every season, Spurs will be playing.

Don't really need any other reason.

Exactly.

No matter the expectation, every Spurs fan should be buzzing coming into a new season.

No surprise some of the negative remarks correlate to the same negative types in the ITK thread lol

yes i am excited by the upcoming season, as with the start of every season. august brings eternal hope and optimism but this is tempered by the teams we need to be competing against appear to be growing stronger.
we need to beat the teams that we should beat and also need to show some resolve against utd, arsenal and liverpool and pick up points. in fact i'd settle for beating them at home and losing away.
its gonna be a tough ask to get a top 4 place and we will most likely ned to field full strength sides as the EL progresses. This could certainly prove to be our best route into CL footy (every other year).

I'm always excited and full of optimism for the start of every season. :D

But this seems to ebb away earlier and earlier each year :(

But as my Dad used to say "There's always next season" (y)

Well that won't definitely happen. I mean getting 7 out of 7 would be practically impossible, though looking for improvement over 1 out of 7 isn't much to ask either.

Unusually for me, I'm not getting excited yet. I know though that I will be in a few weeks, despite myself!

I'm not excited just yet, I have missed going but I'll need to see some promise in pre-season to get me excited as last season was such a let down.

Expect a slow start as usual, due to new players bedding in as they only arrived late in the TW, personally I think we will finish the season in 7th points dropped at the start of the season costing us again.

Excited to have Poch as manager. However, it would be better if we had made a new signing (one would be a start!) and even better if Danny Rose was sold. It is soul destroying to see our rivals strenghtening so much.

I think we've hit a glass ceiling as far as the league is concerned, but I'm hopeful we can do better in the cups (where we've been pretty hopeless recently aside from the FA Cup semi in 2012 which none of us wish to remember).

I'm always excited for a new season but that excitement is tempered this summer by the feeling that we're doomed to go sideways for a little while. Hopefully the lower expectations will make each game more enjoyable though.

Thats fine. 4th is enough for now.

We've done that twice very recently
