I met Chris Armstrong once. Nice, ordinary bloke. Bit quiet. Definitely not flash. I told him to get the winner in the NLD later that year - and he did!

Gascoinge - just a handshake, no signs of encroaching madness at that stage

Met Les Ferdinand, such a nice bloke. Took the time after the West Ham game a couple of seasons back to analyse it, and told me what Harry was telling them at half time and full time etc and how disappointed West Ham were and uniterested in their 'Cup Final'

Also Teddy Sheringham many years ago when he was playing with us, also a top bloke.

Not a Spurs player, but I went out on the lash with Dwight Yorke one night!

Was living in New York when I met him and several of his brothers, who live in Queens, in a pub in Manhatten...

One of the girls I was living with (we were students at the time) said to me there's Andy Cole!...typical girl eh...

Anyway this was in June just after United had won everything in sight, Champions League etc in 1999...I went straight up to him and asked him how Mark Bosnich was, like taking the piss over that scandal those two were involved in!!! He just burst out laughing, we all got chatting and he started getting the rounds in, think he also liked a few of the birds I lived with!!

Then asked me if I knew of any good Clubs which were close, I happily suggested a Club called Webster hall which was the round the corner from the bar we were in...all went and got completely smashed and he took one of my house mates back to the Marriot in Times Square...and smashed the granny out of her, I presume!...technically Dwight got my sloppy seconds

A bit of a mad night really because after that I was in some random limo, heading to Atlantic City drinking champagne...

Dwight Yorke was pretty sound all in all, didn't really want to get into football chat, cant blame him...but definitely was up for a laugh and a bit of banter.

Fuck I loved NYC

Yep... Pat Jennings and Martin Chivers in Milan.

Both seemed very nice and normal... more than happy to stop and have pictures taken.

Met Gary Doherty in a bar in MK a few summers ago when he was at Norwich. Told him I'm a Spurs fan and his face lit up and he invited me to take a seat and have a chat. Told him I'd been to see a Norwich game that season just gone, and his mate just piped up by slating him telling him how shit he was in that particular game. All very good-humoured though. Top bloke.

As many SC regulars will know, I knew most of the 1960s players from the youth team upwards and babysat for quite a few of the first team and reserves as well as mixing socially and going out with a few of them.

I still keep in touch with Cliff and Joan Jones and recently got back in touch with Ricky George who was in our youth team when I first knew him.

Sadly, so many of the older players are no longer with us.

SSP, if you read through some of the Feature threads, you'll see some of my reminiscences of those halcyon days, including John White's last day with us.

If there is anything you'd like to know about a player from back then and I did know them, just ask. I won't give away any secrets that should never be told and I certainly know a few of those...

TBH, back in the day, Chestnut training ground was always open to fans, i met all my hero's in the late 70's and early 80's...Ossie,ricky glenn....they were ordinary guys and always friendly, i was at training the day Perryman and niel Mcnab had a massive scrap...it wasn't great seeing two teamates going at each other.

The one player i met and got to know well was Sir Les......he used to be our Centre Forward in our sunday league team in the 80's,he was so shy and a really top guy, he actually mentioned our team in his autobiography, he hasn't changed too much, fame and money have not turned his head....top bloke.

As I mentioned in another thread I saw PJ on Thursday afternoon going into my local newsagents in Hertford, I have seen him there quite a bit although I believe he has "sort of" retired back to Ireland I assume he must have kept his house near here.

I usually just smile knowingly at him, the only time I spoke to him was a few years back the day after the 3-3 draw in the cup at Chelsea.

I wondered on Thursday if he had been to Milan as part of the crew.

Normally I see him in his Beemer but last week he got out of a black Mk4 golf on an X plate.

My all time favourite Spurs man, with JPG a close second.

met didier zakora when on holiday in tunisia couple of summers back. He was staying there with the ivory coast team (who were playing tunisia in a world cup qual game day after). Nicest guy you could ever meet!

Went up to him and said I was a spurs fan and his eyes light up and we talked for ages. Had a photo taken with him too (wasnt bothered at all about the others). This was the summer before we got champions league and he said he didnt think we could do it but were his favourite team and spurs fan will always be his favourite fans.

didnt want to leave but had to as he was playing out of position and all.

He ended up giving me and my gf two free tickets to the tunisia-ivory coast game and even came up to me by the pool the next day to see how I was.

top top bloke
