I met a few of the first team way back in around about 97/98. Well at least i think it was.

We played Millwall at their training ground for a pre season friendly. Managed to meet sol campbell, david ginola, steffen freund, justin edinborough, george graham, darren anderton and ledley king.

Was fantastic as it was like a sunday league match. We were all stood on the touch line!

After the match i approached all the players and shook their hands. I asked darren anderton for his shirt but he said he wasnt allowed!

Ginola was hard work. Didnt want to speak to me and just about cracked a smile. The nicest one there was freund. He talked my ears off about where i lived and how school was going! unbelievable really but that sort off thing will always stay in my memory. A bit of kindness goes a long way.

The real gutting thing about this story is that my mate told me this match was happening and i never believed him. I just went down there just to make sure and there they all were. Only problem then was i had no pen or paper or a camera with me.

Met Gary Mabbutt, was about 14 hanging round the back of selhurst after THAT klinsmann freekick. Stood talking to me and my brother who was 11 at the time for a good 5-10 mins. Really made an impression on us, top guy, still one of my favourite players.

Met Glenn Hoddle at the pre season Spurs Watford game Nick was talking about. We were in the Watford end and afterwards went to Harry (The Hornet) Bar under the stand. We wobbled out about an hour later and the Spurs coach was there. My mate, who has never been the brightest spark, walked up to the bloke at the door of the coach and said "You look just like John Gorman." and the bloke said "Thats because I am!". Hoddle was a top geezer, taking the time to have a chat and sign autographs. Goo day that was.

i met steffen freund a couple of times, the best being the second time. He was sitting two rows in front of me at Old Trafford (the year JJ equalised with a free kick) and was there with his son. He was dressed head to toe in spurs gear, and celebrated like a madman when we equalised. Managed to get a good photo with him before the game as well. Bloody nice bloke, and a football genius to boot :)

Met a lot of the players at Various dinner and dances in the 90's

one that springs to mind was Paul Walsh. We asked for a photo with him, he said nothing just stood there and counted down 5 seconds before walking off...
I went to a few of them, one year Paul Walsh turned up in jeans and an old jumper when all the players were wearing suits, Terry Venables ripped him about it when he was making a speech. But i must say all the birds in the room were mad on Walshie

Every table had a Spurs player sitting at it so the fans could have a good chat over the meal, except my table, we got the club secretary instead!
But he turned out to be great company and we had some outstanding banter. He offered me passes to the players lounge after a future match, i thought he was pulling my leg and told him so, but fair do's he sent them. It was a boxing day match with Millwall i think, Gazza came up and took his jacket off and went behind the bar and poured everyones drinks, he was laugh a minute.

But i must say my highlight was meeting and chatting to Bill Nicholson, what a lovely down to earth man he was. I had a picture taken with him and it holds pride of place in my front room.

Out loud?

ok, so now we're getting to the crux of it.

was it loud no, audible to those in the near vacinity? yes,

depends on your perception of sound...maybe loud to someone with a stinking headache, or from the speakers' perspective as a low talker maybe it was loud.
Is 11 louder than 10...

So in answer to your query based on my answering someone else's question in their words, no it was not loud but was aloud.

Once waited outside the ground for the players' autographs. Teddy Sheringham was the only one who walked out (the others driving past in their car. ian Walker wouldnt sign anything or even open his window, thought it was a bit strange, but his missus at the time was ill with cancer so I can imagine he had other things on his mind." Teddy was great, signed everything, chatted away, ripped the piss out of a kid who went running after the Blackburn coach then return ten minutes later claiming he had got Alan Shearer's autograph.

Also met Freddie Kanoute after the Sevilla Uefa cup win at Glasgow airport. Lots of Spurs fans congratulated him, seemed a nice guy.

Also went on one of the club trips with a legend - Martin Chivers. He has loads fo great stories, and would happily chat to you one on one whenever he was around.

i knew the 'said nothing' may confuse some, perhaps a comma would have better described moving on to the next part of the story.

i'll rephrase. we asked for a photo.

He said nothing (to acknowledge that we could take a photo) but stood there ready and waiting, he then proceeded to count down from five to one aloud (or maybe out loud) before walking off (again saying nothing)

hope that helps

I have actually met Teddy twice. Once when I was about 17 and pissing about in London for the day. I was around the Oxford Street area and saw a sign saying that Teddy was doing signing in the nearby sports shop.

I had sod all money so I couldn't buy a shirt for him to sign or anything decent like that. Therefore one of my prize possessions to this day is a Puma frisbee with Teddy's autograph on it.

I also saw the whole squad once at Stansted. I was working there in a cafe during my gap year and got wind that they were in the building, flying up to a Sunderland away game IIRC. My boss was rapidly told in no uncertain terms that it was now my break time and I sprinted through the terminal to see them filing towards air side. Teddy, as captain, was one of the last to go through as he was accompanying Hoddle. I rushed up to him grinning and said something inane about how he was great and a Spurs legend and stuff, as you do.

I met Steven Carr in Eros in Enfield (was a popular haunt for Spurs players back in the day) and it was on a day we'd narrowly lost to ar5ena1. I was stood next to him at a bar. and I said something along the lines of 'We nearly had them today'...he looked me up and down and just walked off. Watched him do the same thing time and again all nite.

Needless to say i was pleased as punch that his career went off the rails!!
