That's strange to hear about Paul Walsh, as he was really nice to me.

I met him about a year ago at a charity bash I was reporting at.

I was speaking to him, Rob Lee, Ian Dowie, and asked for a pic.

Walshy offered to take the pic, but I refused and actually got him in the picture.

Also present were Ardiles, Villa, Merson, Keown, Winterburn, Lee Sharpe, and Ray Parlour.

For me pretty much hating Ray Parlour for 27 years, he was actually the nicest of the lot.

Played football with David Howells ( non league!) he's a proper decent bloke too.

He was playing for a side in the Surrey and Hants border league, I think a pub side over Woking way. A friends team played them and Howells plays up front. No pace but awesome in the air. There was talk of Le Tissier playing in the same side too

met quite a few of them (past players) as i used to work in the golf industry in spain, surprisingly most of them, not just spurs players but all football players, were actually pretty decent blokes.

Never met any Spurs players, sadly. I met Sir Alex Ferguson, he was a miserable ****. Gary Speed was a nice bloke, as was Howard Wilkinson. Tom Cairney who plays for Hull is meant to be a top lad but I didn't recognise him when I sold him petrol, ditto Jonny Howson from Leeds Utd. Also, I was told Chris Waddle could be seen sipping a latte in a little cafe in Crookes, Sheffield at the time I lived there but I never did, sadly...

Met loads of players over the years, mate is a retired pro, but without wanting to get into all that, I have to say that when I met SAF, he was a total, and utter, ledge. It was during the 94 World Cup and we were watching a game (Holland v Saudi Arabia) in a wine bar down the street from Stanford Stadium where Brazil had just beaten Russia. Not only did he spend an hour blowing off his sponsors and hanging with me and my mate telling us loads of great stories (he was a huge fan of Mabbs and tried twice to sign him but each time, Mabbs simply said he loved Spurs too much) but he bought the drinks a few times, wouldn't let us get a round in! Nah, he was top top class, and his passion for the game was extremely evident. It (of course) meant I could no longer hate the bloke, indeed, I thought he was probably the most genuine manager/coach I'd met.

I played in a inter-holiday camp game with John Sainty who was on Spurs' books in the 60's and then played for Bournemouth. In the same week I played cricket against John Murray, the England & Middlesex wicket keeper although what he was doing at a holiday camp during the cricket season, I don't know.

Went to primary school with Ronnie Harris and Allan Harris was a family friend. Took part in kick-around on Clapton Common with some of the talented Chelsea teenagers when they came over to visit Ronnie including Venables, Bonetti, Cliss and Murray but sadly not Jimmy Greaves.

In my mid-teens, I was in the White Hart (a regular occurrence) just before Christmas and there were loads of Spurs players there (another regular occurrence back in the 1960s).

There was a sprig of mistletoe hanging from one of the light fittingss. A few innocent kisses ensued, but Johnny Sainty decided they weren't good enough and took me by surprise with a kiss that lasted about three minutes. It certainly caused a stir and a few cheers. He was a nice enough lad and not a bad kisser but I have to admit that I didn't really fancy him.

Im from only up the road from where Pat Jennings was born and raised, My Dad has a great story about him.
When Pat was playing with Spurs, during the off season, Pat appeared at a charity function back in his home town in Newry in a local park where you could take a penalty at him for a few bob that went to charity. So my dad landed with a few of his mates, paid the dosh for a penalty each, at this stage 10 or so penalties had been taken at Pat and he either saved them or they were ballooned wide or over the top. 4 of my dads mates missed their penalties and as my dad went to retrieve the ball for his go he winked at Pat and secretly showed him the Spurs jersey he was wearing under his coat, needless to say Pat winked back and dad hit one into the bottom right corner with Pat diving dramatically in the opposite direction. To this day his mates still think he scored a penalty against Pat Jennings and even put him the wrong way! lol The man is a legend, never forgot where he came from.

Tremendous story. And exactly the sort of thing you'd expect from Pat.

Have met a few players in the course of work a few years back:

Darren Anderton - afraid he was a bit of a knob
Sol - nuff said (can't believe he got free film rentals off me for months )
Jimmy Greaves - top bloke - signed my shirt

The nicest footballer I met was weirdly a gooner - Glenn Helder? Top bloke - always up for the banter and paid his late fees!

Michael Thomas is a family friend so have met quite a few players through him. I was on a two week course in Liverpool where that weekend was that famous FA cup quarter final 2-1 win over them where both Klinnsman and Sheringham scored. I spent that weekend by Mickey where after the game in the Anfield players lounge I met and spoke to most of the Spurs team.

Contrary to what most have posted on here about him, I found Teddy's demeanour and attitude to be wanting. Of all our players including Sol, Sheringham was the most aloof, and seemed to have his head up his ass. He refused to take pictures with anyone and hardly signed any autographs when asked. Went down in my estimation. To be fair he could have been having a bad day, but still as a model professional, he needed to rise above it.

Klinnsman on the other hand was the business. He chatted and was willing to answer questions etc. He cracked us up when he when he tried to take the piss out of John Barnes by mocking him with a scous accent. Imagine, an English speaking footballer with a very heavy German accent tryng to talk scous!

Suffice to say that I did meet more Arsenal and Liverpool players than Spurs ones. Met up with Mickey as he had a spare ticket for me for a midweek game at Highbury where the Arse was playing Manu. After the game in the lounge was chatting in a group which included Tony Adams and David Rocastle (RIP). I had a glass of champers in my hand when David Dien came over and asked those of us he didnt recognise how long we been supported the Arse. When he asked him I told him I never did and never would, I am a Yid, "cheers and thanks for the champaign", at which point he turned red and walked away!

I met Teddy Sheringham in McDonald's in Bournemouth about a year ago, he was more than happy to sign autographs whilst he was sat down eating with his mates.
