So hard as the amount of stand out players has been exceptional. I have to go with Hugo he's been exceptional with absolute stand out saves in each game. I know Toby has been amazing but not as completely irreplaceable whereas when Vorms stepped up we've really missed Hugo.

For me it has to be Toby. The marked improvement in our defensive stats are no coincidence: this boy's the mustard.

For me Toby and Dembele are neck and neck at the moment and whoever performs best over the next 5 games will be getting my vote.

Honourable mentiones for Lloris, Kane, Rose and Vertonghen.

Has to be Toby for me. I love Ledley but, Alderweireld is probably the best defender I've seen play in a Spurs shirt. I can't remember a time in the last 25 years where our defence has been so consistent.

Toby. He has literally had one average, 6/10 game. other than that he has been practically 8/10 every week. Never seen such consistency from a Spurs player.

He's been as good as Ledley, difference is, it's every week! Crazy

If i was forced to choose only one, then it would have to be Dier. Its his presence in that position that makes the defence more stable while also allowing the front 5 to play without worrying too much about defending. That is a very very important role he holds in the formation we play, and he plays it to perfection.

However, I would say that all of Dier, Toby and Kane have contributed massively to the squad, more than all the other players, who themselves have contributed a lot to our success.

As brilliant as others have been (Kane, Alli, Mousa) Alderweireld has been first class all season and has given us the defensive platform to be able to play forward confidently. He's also chipped in with big goals at key moments.

Tackles, blocks, assists, goals. He's a complete player at the top of his game.

for me the improvement is also down to Dier. both have made us alot more solid at the back.

I gave Winners for all those who went for Dier as they all acknowledge his role in the team and how he makes everyone else play their role at a higher level because of his presence.

Toby and the defence know he can back them up.

Walker and Rose know they can maraud forward as Dier covers them in a back 3 formation.

Alli, Dembele, Eriksen and Lamela all know they can focus more on the attacking aspects of the game as Dier takes over their 50% of their defensive responsibilities.

Dier makes them tick. Dier for me.

Vote seems pretty unanimous. It would be nice for us to recognise Toby considering that Kane and Alli are likely to get recognition elsewhere.

Voted for Toby here and will be voting for Toby in the official player of the year vote too. As a crippled CB myself he makes it look all so easy! Absolute rock, a superb signing by those involved.

Has to be Toby. No coincidence our defence has been rock solid since his arrival.

So many deserving choices, which just shows what great players we have, and all pulling for the team! I went for Dier 'cause I've been amazed by the maturity he's shown for someone so young. The seamless versatility he's shown regarding his playing position is priceless and still underrated IMO. It shows someone who has a great reading of the overall game.

As CM most of the season, he's really shielded the defence in a way that we've missed for as long as I can remember. I can really see him as a long-term captain and leader of the team. He brings the team together, always lets other players know he's got their back, has passion, but still stays calm and composed. He's a warrior! Actually reminds me a lot of Dave Mackay - not the finished article, but, at his young age, he has the steel, the versatility and the leadership quality potential that Mackay had.

Love Toby, Moussa, Hugo...love 'em all! Just think Eric Dier's shown he can be the leader of this team going forward.

So many players have been outstanding for us this season.
Hugo, Dier, Alli, Kane, Lamela, Eriksen, Dembele, Jan, Rose. But if i have to pick one its got to be Toby.

What a tough decision. Love that!

Dier just edges it for me. I really wasn't sold on the idea of him being our DM at the beginning of the season, but he's proved to be absolutely fantastic there, and gives us so much balance.

Why? Is he not allowed an opinion?

I love Ledley as much as anyone else, but I cringe when people suggest no other defender in our colours could ever be comparable to him.

I thought it was obvious I was being lighthearted.
