Sounds like England. I'm sure half of us weren't born in sixty six.
Sadly true but if you look at East Germany it has been clearly lacking in their football teams, this could help them get stronger

People forget that Maradona didn't score in the final of 1986 so I don't see the difference too much in the situations.

Bloody Gooner Podolski hamming it up like he's won the bloody world cup single handedly. Has he even played?

Wanted a South American team to win it but there's no denying Germany deserved it. The most consistent team in world football

BUt he did inspire them to the final then put in an excellent performance in the final despite being heavily marked and made a great pass to setup the winning goal.

So quite a different final performance.

Do Germans actually celebrate or do they shake hands and return home to bed ready for work tomorrow

Even their celebrating is efficient. :)...... Although I'm sure plenty of beer will be consumed in Germany in the next 24hours.

Look, I love the guy when he's on song and still the best footballer in the world on a technical level but the attitude more or less throughout this tournament and generally for Argentina just gives the impression that he feels it's beneath him to even give moderate work ethic.

It's because he's lauded to the highest level possible which is why he will now take a bucket load of critique which will rightly come his way.
But this is the point, it shouldn't be beneath him, he's been given the captaincy of his country, he's leading them in a world cup final. That shows either a week mentality, or if you are correct and he feels it's beneath him, then he will never be the best.

I hate agreeing with @yankspurs but he's right. Pele or Maradona would not have missed his the chance that he did. They knew how to change a game of this size, and wouldn't have let the occassion get to them.

Didi Hamann ‏@DietmarHamann 14s
Neuer mentioning Reus and the Benders who missed out straight after the game shows what this team is all about... Sensational ... Very proud

Scary to think about the depth of talent Germany has at the moment.

Maradona has been far more influential for Argentina than Messi - that isn't really in doubt for me and Maradona didn't fanny around for most of the match in '86 final and whilst he was kept in check well by Matthaeus, he still at least made a crucial assist.
