But this is the point, it shouldn't be beneath him, he's been given the captaincy of his country, he's leading them in a world cup final. That shows either a week mentality, or if you are correct and he feels it's beneath him, then he will never be the best.


I hate agreeing with @yankspurs but he's right. Pele or Maradona would not have missed his the chance that he did. They knew how to change a game of this size, and wouldn't have let the occassion get to them.

I think we'll see how much character and commitment he has this coming season as he will be scrutinised harder than perhaps at any other time in his career - plus he'll be competing with Neymar and now Suarez.

Hopefully he finds his best form again.

Agreed. Argentina never found the right balance at any point in the tournament. They just crammed all their big names onto the field and hoped they'd work... it didn't. Making it to the final has merely 'papered over the cracks' of that philosophy
