Wow, it's not only the ITK discussion thread that is full of kneejerking idiots...
You see this is where I disagree with the term cock ups, the majority of players we signed have been because they were doing really well at previous clubs under different coaches. They weren't bad players that arrived only that have left. Isn't a lot of that down to the coach? finding the right shape and style to make them work, working on their strengths and weaknesses, selecting the players around them that maximise those strengths whilst mitigating their weaknesses
This whole idea of any coach having to come in and bring in all his own players and drastically overhaul the squad is imo a lot of nonsense. Sure it's always likely there will always be a couple of weak links in any squad that need to be changed, but if you need a complete overhaul-particularly in a team that has finished around top five for best part of the last decade then you have gotten the wrong coach.
What bothers me about Poch is that he can't seem to get his ideas across to the players and feels he needs a huge change round already more than 20 first team players in or out in just over a year but still needing his players. Then of course who are his players? judging by a lot of links many were his old Soton players, the same players that finished below us and our bunch of cockups two years back
I worry about his limited tactics, his limited experience, his apparent dogmatic approach and his seeming inability to get the best out of a number of players who other coaches have managed to get very good service out of

Levy isn't going to fire Poch this season, bar a cataclysmic run which results in us being bottom half of the table at christmas. Poch is an ideal manager for Levy right now, not really going to set the world alight, but not really going to be shit either... vintage Tottenham. He's low maintenance and plays the game, i.e. inexpensive. With the new stadium etc being paid for, Levy will want to keep the expense of swapping managers and staff to a minimum. So while we put on the face of top 4 aspirations, the reality will be that Europa League places will be fine, as it keeps us ticking over and the coffers secure.
Not saying that we should be happy with this, just that I suspect this is the more likely reality.
Then again, it could be complete bobbins, and he'll sack him in October after being cuffed 5-0 by Liverpool...
Cockups was the wrong word. We need to sell Lamela, Townsend and I think there are few others......none of the new intake although Davies is looking not up to scratch.
The fans this season are simply OTT and the players lack confidence other than City it does seems not uncommon throughout the league we even nullified 'the magnificent' Leicester for the most part.
Poch is an easy target and dont our fans enjoy having a dig.
Like with Redknapp? The fans are disappointed with the dull football Poch delivers and the same weaknesses in our game we see every week, don't run away with the idea that fans love a dig, we'd all be happier singing from the rafters and applauding our play and our success, stop making excuses for Poch and blaming fans for criticising him, it's down to him to win them over
Like with Redknapp?
"We never had it so good"
We have already sold Stam and had agreed to sell Fazio two players that arrived under Poch's tenure. If we carry on selling half the players we buy every year under Poch it might take a while to build this squad of his players

We finished 5th last season and have only narrowly lost once this season and fans are already getting twitchy. I fucking despair reading some of the shit on this forum, I really do...
They are not so much twitchy, but frustrated by the turgid and uninspiring performances that have continued on from last year, irrespective of our 5th place finish. We finished 5th last season and have only narrowly lost once this season and fans are already getting twitchy. To be fair I think a lot of people's concern is about the nature of our performances and the football we play, rather than our results.
Sure, no worries there, and you can throw in "kick back and relax" for good measure. But once strapped in, there is no obligation to enjoy nor support every single aspect of a rollercoaster on questionable foundation. Some fans need to grow a pair and strap in for the ride.
"The fans are disappointed with the dull football Poch delivers" I hate it also but it does not surprise me as it was the same at Espanyol.
Did you watch the EPL this weekend because it looks like it contagious as Southampton and few other looked just as one passed and dreadful.
I dont give a toss what the fans really do or think. We are 3 games in to a new season. Poch is here for the foreseeable future so they might as well shut fuck up and cut him some slack. All this incessant negativity serves little purpose, it won't make Poch change his style. So as far as I'm concerned they can blow the pipes if they think the will help.
Poch is here to oversee football coaching while the stadium is built......then, at this rate, he will be gone.
But be my guest ........
We are clearly taking steps to try and improve our performances by targeting players with pace and hopefully a defensive midfielder.
We are never going to play champagne football every match, no team in the world does, but as long as we are still picking up the results to compete then the manager definitely deserves patience.
We've played 3 GAMES this season. Some fans need to grow a pair and strap in for the ride.
