Hope Radek does a good job, but I also hope that Robbo has to miss more than one match. Do'nt mean that I want Radek to take over Robbo's position, but it may do him good to stay out of the frame for a while and come back fresh. It'll give us supporters a chance to see how good Radek is too! He had a cracking game in the final of the SA cup comp we were in, albeit that it were'nt the toughest test for him, and it would be great to see him carry on that good form into the premiership!

I'd like to know at what point during the game he picked up the injury. If it's bad enough to keep him out for two maybe three weeks, why wasn't he taken off?

Are you Canadian too, then? Salteri was part of the tightest Spurs defense in recent years. He is a solid, reliable professional.

As for Robbo, we've seen him play well and we know his ability. This is obviously a bad spell and maybe a rest will do him good - Maybe Cerny will shine.

There are obviously bigger problems than just the keeper, though. We don't defend as a team, don't close players down early, don't communicate, and we really lack experience at the back. I could go on. People talk about our need for a midfield leader, a player who can dominate a game. There are no obvious candidates available, but maybe a quality experienced defender should be on the list.

Anyway, my final point is that calling any spurs player a "fat twat" or "a joke" shows your true colours as a Spurs supporter. These are committed players who have been vital in our recent revival - remember 05-06 season? back into Europe on record PL points. Last season's huge haul of points in the final 12 games getting European football for this season?

Regardless of what the injury is, this is a massive 2 weeks for Robinson's career.

Hopefully someone can persuade him to take the time to get his head right and to get back to giving out some positive vibes like he did up to 18 months ago. If he can do that, the whole defence will improve and we'll be back on track.

He's clearly been over-training recently, so a forced absence from the training ground could be highly beneficial.

It seems all the Robbo lovers are hoping for Cerny to fail. So its ok for Spurs to lose a few games so they can say told you so.

That's wrong. Why would you assume that? No one has said that.

Cerny has to be judged by the same standards applied to Robinson, no more, no less, 'tis only right and fair after all.

The Robbo haters have been very vocal and if they are inconsistent with their opinions isn't it right that they are called on it?

I don't think anyone is hoping Spurs lose at all.

Who wants that?

Robbo fans are Robbo fans because he is a committed Spurs player, ever present through our best period in recent years and who clearly loves the club and the fans.
Doesn't mean they hate Cerny. In fact, probably all Robbo fans want Cerny and every other player to do well because first and foremost we are all spurs fans.

I hope that he just takes time and goes back to basics, we know that Robbo can be a class act and that things have gone astray, perhaps Spurs need to look at the coachs to see if a new one would help?

'Certain people', B-C? Why, no. He'll be subjected to the same stringent standards as Robinson—i.e., no excuses/mitigating circumstances allowed.

It's only logical. Robinson has clearly been 100% responsible for every goal we've conceded so far this season, so everything that ends up in the back of the net whilst Cerny's minding the farm must be his fault too.
:duh: don't be dense SS. There's a world of difference between a player over a period of time who whatever reason has shown frailty and weakness and a player who comes in and makes a simple mistake.

Hopefully Cerny will play very well. If he doesn't the time to judge will be after a few games.

Btw you do yourself no justice when you wheel out your tired hyperbole. You'd do better to take on the strength of people's argument.

On Robbo, I'll draw your attention to the number and quality of mistakes you'd like to mitigate against. Loyalty is an admirable trait but never mistake it for reason. Like the mother who finds a multitude of excuses for her recalcitrant son, sometimes it's as well to stop pointing fingers at everything else and start looking closer to home for the source of the trouble.

I support Spurs not Robinson. That sentence seems to ring a bell from somewhere? Can't place where?

It's only fair Cerny has this chance, injury or no injury. If he fucks up, then he'll be judged just as harshly/leniently as some do on here.

Yes, I for one am really glad that England's Number One is is injured. Now we have a chance to judge him once and for all in the context of what is clearly the superior ability of Sparta Prague's former backup keeper. FFS.

Im just happy that my mate tommy is possibly going to be on the bench, never thought id see him near the first team squad to be honest but he's a very good keeper. And i can say ive put a few past him!

Seriously though i think its a good thing that robbo is injured, gives cerny a chance without dropping him and crushing his spirit more.

Seriously I think it's never a good thing when someone is injured. But anyway I am happy that Cerny gets a chance now, I hope he uses it well. If so, it is interesting to see what BMJ does when Robbo is fit again.

Unfortunately, some people's 'argument' does appear to be that he has been responsible for every single goal that's gone in against us this season, that he is therefore the sole author of all our woes, and that replacing him will mean that everything in the Garden will automatically be lovely. I've said repeatedly, he's not the problem, he's part of the problem; if his team-mates persistently lose their man in the area, allow themselves to be out-jumped and give the opposition all the time in the world to tee up shots from range (or jump out of the way instead of blocking) it won't matter who's in goal. And whilst Robinson has made some costly balls-ups and fails to inspire total confidence when crosses are coming in, to put it mildly, he's also pulled off some very good saves which bely the constant jibes about lack of agility, but which appear to go unnoticed by those who went to the Braille School of Observation.

Hopefully Cerny will play very well, but quite where the apparent belief he will be a major improvement comes from I really don't know.

I thought you only reserved your "stringent standards" for Zokora ?

My stringent standards? I was speaking of those of SC in general.

I'm curiously reminded of the witch-hunt against Stalteri two years ago, when he single-handedly cost us fourth place (according to those with the brains of a Toilet Duck), and the Bring Back Steo Brigade. Let's hope Cerny does rather better than Kelly.

It was quite sad realy, and to think how many point some other players have cost us and nothing is said about them...
