It's certainly a strange move by Pompey as they're already got Dioup for that position as well as Mendes and Davis!

I know in Diops case he will be at ACN for next month by 'Arry said he wanted him for ages so long-term how's he gonna accompany them - I mean there's only so many defensive midfield players you can play in one midfield.

Diop Mendes Davis Diarra

That's like the anti-Spurs midfield of the moment as we've gone the opposite way... :)

If we splash out on Fred and let Diarra slip away I won't be very impressed with our transfer policy.

Let's see...

Fred - Never played in England, would need time to adapt, oh and we already have four great strikers.

Diarra - Played in Prem before, wouldn't need much time to adapt, could be the centre midfielder we're lacking...

Mr Levy, Mr Comolli, Mr Ramos... Rocket science?

Or, as has been suggested, Arsenal didn't want to do business with us. They've already been whinging about Comolli sniffing around some of their youth prospects, and Hill-Wood threw a strop about Levy inviting Dein into our boardroom to sample the sherry that nice Mr Kemsley brought back from Seville. Not much love lost there.

And anyway, we've got Zokora!

There's nothing from Portsmouth though ...

It's all SSN. Or have I missed something.

And regardless of how good he might be, do we really want a player who throws his toys out of the pram inside six months?

This just makes me fuming, he would have been a perfect signing for us. This window is turning into a farce, we never seem to target the right players.

If he at the Emirates long enough to be Arsenalised he wouldn't come anyway and if he did there was always their board and manager to piss on that idea.

Moving on....

Only Veloso or Kompany can now appease me about this.

I can't see Hamburg selling Kompany now. Maybe in the summer, but they are within shouting distance of Bayern and can't afford to break up their team at the moment. Whereas in the summer, the Dutch contingent may well be out the door after Huup Stevens leaves (I know Kompany is not Dutch but he is from Flanders I believe).

Better than Zokora, Boateng and Jenas combined tbh. And a defensive midfielder, which considering Kieran McKenna is the only one we currently have at the club, is what we desperately need more than anything.
