5million reasons why we have a chance.

I think we probably have something like a 25 - 30% chance of finishing fourth. I think the fact that it is the last game of the season will add something to the game at SJP. The players and staff have to do a lap of honour after the game and will not want to lose their final match of the season...

    Adebayor is back !

Ade struggles when Bale plays through the middle. Bale has the selfishness of a striker and there have been loads of opportunities where Bale could have laid goals on a plate for Ade this season, only for him to shoot (and often score) himself. IMO if Bale wants to play regularly through the...

Who will be our surprising hero in the remainder of the season?

Tom Carroll for me. Genuinely think he offers us something which we don't have in the middle at the moment and he is willing to look for killer passes and through balls in to space. Just hope he gets some games.

It's our pattern of play that is costing us at the moment

Agree with all of this too. We don't take enough risks in the middle with our passing and it is costing us. Immediately after Carroll came on he was looking to thread through balls in to Ade and Defoe. He could be our hero in the final few games IMO.

It's our pattern of play that is costing us at the moment

You're absolutely right that barely any of the top teams play with wingers, however that is mainly because they play fluid 4-3-3 systems with technically gifted players who can move the ball quickly and intelligently in the centre of the park, like Mata today with his flick over the top for...

It's our pattern of play that is costing us at the moment

I'd actually disagree and say that having at least 1 winger has been absolutely fundamental to our success. We look nowhere near as fluent without one and the space they create is incredibly valuable for our other players. Unfortunately we don't have a team capable of tip tapping their way...

It's our pattern of play that is costing us at the moment

The thing is though it's not so much the ability of the player but the fact that he has similar attributes to Lennon/Bale so we can make a like for like change and it doesnt mean changing the entire way we play

It's our pattern of play that is costing us at the moment

It depends on who well versed the team is in the alternative tactics I suppose. Fulham struggled for a long time when they lost Dembele as he was a vital element to the way they played and everything went through him. They had to work on an alternative model involved Ruiz and Berbatov. For me...

It's our pattern of play that is costing us at the moment

Obviously another hugely disappointing performance today and what could turn out to be a very costly 3 points dropped. For me, Fulham were not spectacular at all and while they defended solidly, we rarely gave them anything to really think about. There is a common theme which, in my opinion...

    Today's Thoughts

It's usually much more difficult for creative players to get into games when they are bought on as subs, as they can struggle to get with the tempo of the game quickly. He may be suffering with a bit of low confidence too. He's gone from being a starter for Schalke 04 to being a sub with us...

    Decision making up front

For those of you who don't know (and to be fair only the guys in the poker threads would know this) I play poker quite a bit. I've won some decent money playing and enjoy the theory of the game. One of the most important things in poker (and the most difficult to master for beginners) is making...

    Kyle Walker

We have to accept that as a young player, he is going to make mistakes. The key thing is how he learns from those mistakes and improves. I very much doubt that Walker will attempt a back pass like that again. Bale makes mistakes (missing sitters for example), but we dont notice them as much...

    Liverpool Vs Tottenham Match Thread

Hopefully the result will help the players double their efforts and regain focus. Walker is young and will make mistakes, we have to accept that in order to see him at his full potential in a couple of years. Defoe's one was a bit of a freak but these things happen. We can take great heart in...

Strange 'luck' with injuries this season.

I actually think our injury problems have got better this season. AVB was talking about how training is designed to reduce injuries and we have definitely seen a reduction in short term injuries (2 weeks to 2 months out). Of course there have been a few but we have not had to play Huddlestone...

Gareth Bale (Rumour to Deal Done)

When a journalist asks them a direct question about a player, I suppose they have to answer it. However, Spanish clubs do use their best players to try and lure transfer targets in. Madrid did it with Modric, getting every player under the sun to say how great he was. Chelsea tried it with...

    Midfield options...

He did have excellent pass completion and tackle success stats from last season. One positive of having Parker is that we are dominating teams possession wise, and obviously while we have the ball it makes us difficult to beat. However, the possession is passive instead of active and this could...

    Midfield options...

True. The only time he got stick was when he was paired with Sandro...which was awful but wasn't his fault. Think it's worth a try.
