I know it was just a friendly, but any player ratings or stand out performances?

How did Lamela play? Possible starter for Saturday?

Onomah and Chadli were impressive. Onomah for his incisive runs and ball retention, although he lacked the final polish that you should expect to come with more time. Chadli because he got a nice goal and dropped back very deep to defend.

Bentaleb and Trippier again very solid.

Lamela blew more hot than cold which is good and really should have finished the day with something to his name. He scuffed a volley when Spurs were 2 on 1 in the box and then within 2 minutes sent through 2 gorgeous balls, one Carroll scuffed the shot (almost identical to the one he would go on to score later) and another I believe Onomah got tangled in. He played as the most furthest forward in the second half but Spurs just hit the long ball and he was quicker than the 30 something year old CB's, he managed to hold the ball up well and feed it back into the attack - he could have had an assist later on if Mason (?) could keep his strike down.

All in all another Lamela-esque performance that will split fans down the middle. I would like to see him on Saturday as I see him as our best RM option.

I thought Lamela looked more dangerous yesterday through the middle than he does for us when he plays from the right. Looked to slip a few through balls in and made some good runs. In fact I'd go as far to say that I prefer him there than I do Eriksen, he looks to receive the ball more and has more energy about him. If he had more confidence and was a bit more selfish he'd be even better.

Trippier is a better footballer than Clyne IMO, technically far better but Trippier played for Burnley and Clyne played for Saints so that will always get reflected in the price. Clyne is very quick and athletic but we have a right back like that in Kyle Walker so I don't see missing out on Clyne an issue at all.

The Academy ethos shines through
when several of the Academicians are gathered together.
Plenty of one touch passing pace and positivity.
It will come unstuck at times at course
but will give more pleasure and better results
than the turgidity of the approach to the Real Madrid game.
Was this difference due to the quality of the opponents,
a change of tactics and approach by Mauricio,
or the Academy factor I started with.
Love the little friendly glances and nods between the youngsters.
Enjoy.

I must have missed that, were people angry we didn't go in for Clyne. I always liked trippier at Burnley, i thought he was quality in an average side and when we signed him i was surprised as i thought a lot of other teams would have been in for him. Clyne was good but way overpriced.

Interesting to hear Pulis' thoughts on Spurs and MP on Five Live tonight. He was full of praise.
Like the man, hate his football.

That being said the reason I like him is he's honest and no bullshitter, he calls it exactly at is. Plenty of lower clubs will try and park the bus, kick em in the shins, and long ball the top sides to death, but few managers will admit it. He not only admits it, but embraces it. I hate the tactics but I can respect the man.

Certainly more positives than against Real despite the fact that Milan put on an awful display, worse than you would expect even from a team finishing 10th in serie A. How the mighty fall

That said though they have us yards of space and time on the ball we actually used it to try and get the passes flowing and the ball moving forward quicker. We have to be happy with that even if we struggle to repeat it against teams that are not so generous. A great goal by Chadli, a nice bit of incisive play and finishing for a second, a couple of other decent chances that fellto youngsters that maybe with the benefit of a bit more experience and confidence might have seen a better first touch then finish
Trippier looked really good, Davies looked decent, the young goalie was solid bar a couple of kicks from pass backs. Sadly though despite the full backs looking decent overall the defensive unit still looked shaky and still looked really weak at corners
At the end of the day despite the opposition a 2-0 win is a confidence booster particularly after a disappointing performance against Real, so sets us up better for the United game

Ive not been able to see the match, only the highlights of the goals, but where did Carroll play? Was he amc or did he play on the right?

I only ask as, given that lovely link up with Trippier for his goal, I'm curious as to how he'd do on the right of our am3?

Looked like he started on the right of the 3, though I'm still only. 24 mins in on the footage. I think there was some rotation going on, as Lamela looked the 9, then Chadli, Chadli's run and goal came from the right. Think he (Carroll) would benefit from the central role, but played well and his goal was a peach first time curled clip to the far post.

I want to see more of TC in the first 11.

Don't agree with this at all.
The man is anti football
and gets no respect from me for admitting it.
